I fed Willie a whole small apple today. I didn't relize until after I had done so that that might have not been the best idea.. I have heard of people feeding whole apples before, but I just wanted to make sure one was ok. Thanks!

Is he still alive? If so, no problem.

LOL I have fed whole apples and they just take bites of it till gone. Though with all my minis, it doesn't last long.

I was always taught not to feed apples whole because the slick skin can cause them to slide down the horses throat. That is with big horses though. I don't know if a whole apple can fit in Magic's mouth. I feed pieces of apple to my horses. I cut up three apples and take them out to my three horses. They each get about a whole apple with no negative effects. I'm sure Willie will be fine. L

To be safe, I always cut apples for my large and small horses if they are going to be added to a meal or offered w/out me standing there. If I'm holding the apple they can bite off a piece.

Large and small horses can will choke/block on apples.

Stay safe!

[SIZE=14pt]We always feed whole apples to our horses! We never cut them in peices! I have seen 2 chokes caused by apple peices! If you feed them whole the horse will only bite what they want until it's gone! Horses tend to try to put too many peices of cut apples in their mouth at once! They think the faster they eat, the more they get! just like they do with feed!

I've fed whole apples to my horses for ages.

: I used to have an apple tree that was just for the horses, lol!

I put the apples in the horses' feed tubs and they bite into them, taking bites until the apple is gone. This is my horses' favorite treat.

Okay, thanks so much! Since apple seeds aren't good for humans, I wasn't sure if they would be bad for the horses or not.. Thanks again, y'all are the best!
