I would NEVER put one of "THOSE THINGS" on any of my horses big or small. I would be afrain that my horse might get cought up in that thing and get hurt. They appeared to be so stall cleaning would not be as hard. What if your hose layed down with it on?

Riverwood, I complain about that all the time!

Checks and deep sand should never mix, me and driving in 95 degree ANYTHING never mix, and I complain bitterly about having to use a check at all! *snicker* As for the rest of it, well...let me just say that any harness that goes on my horse better not be heavy and swinging and certainly shouldn't be between his legs!

I too cannot imagine using this contraption. My horse is not about to pee on a hard surface unless I completely ignore every signal he's giving me for hours on end and if so, I deserve what I get. Heck, if he's on the porch being clipped or in a building giving a demonstration he even lets me know when he needs to poop so I can take him out! I would use a Bun Bag for therapy work because he will poop without warning when he gets nervous but that's about it.

Just think of all the back problems you could give a big horse having to carry around all that wet weight all day!

I can barely move the wheelbarrow some nights and they want me to strap that to his neck?? Plus, what about the ammonia odors and attracting flies? Poor horse.

Strange world we live in!

I don't believe that is heavy at all but as far as a horse that has to carry the weight.........when it is full of wee wee...I can PROMISE you that I weigh more that a bag full of wee wee (I shouldn't admit that)
default_unsure.png
and I sit on a horses back..obviously the wee wee is under....but the things we do to horses hooking them up to carts and riding them and putting them in stalls oh I could go on and on. I'm going to go hide now LOL I should add too that....that I wouldn't want all that weeeee to swish up on my stomache!

I understand for therapy horses and such, but leaving that on your horse just so you don't have to clean a stall? Thats ridiculous... and would probably be annoying and get heavy as the day/night went on.

These are for short term use - such as a parade, school visit, nursing home, etc. Not for day and night use

As for it's looks, during a parade it's nicer than having someone pushing a wheelbarrow behind the horses and picking up the road apples.

I'm not sure theses would hold much if any urine.

Wouldn't the urine just splash all over their belly when they move?!? And that looks like an aweful lot of straps that could easily catch a leg if the horse were left unattended as they are advertising. What if the horse tried to lay down? Disaster waiting to happen IMO.

HOLY CRAP

Someone was tipping the bottle when they invented that one. What if he /she got hung up in more ways then one
default_new_rofl.gif
and what about having to wash it and clean it and it getting all crappy and...and...
default_shutup.gif
I bet a MAN invented it? Kinda like the men that invented Bombshell Bras-Girdles (remember those) & the doctor that wanted women to have childbirth laying down instead of squatting like the Indian women did (that's what I'm talkin 'bout.)

I think Hobbyhorse brought this up, but don't know if anyone else did... the "Bun Bag" is probably a more ethical thing to use to catch manure... probably cheaper too...

Here is the website link:

There is/was a guy here in Australia that had a similar device on ALL his thoroughbred and welsh broodmares. They would put them on during the day and then the device was taken off at night-time. His ones were designed NOT to collect manure - only the urine. I believe that he was connected to a pharmacy company and of course they were collecting urine to manufacture HRT medication.
