Well, from the things I have read, at this point I would really like to be able to booster my ponies with the Recombitek vaccine for WNV. This is what I used last year for their initial vaccinations. However, last year I had 10 ponies. So, I bought 2 trays of the 10 doses and it was the perfect amount. Now I am down to 6 ponies. I can't find anyplace that sells them individually with less than a 10 dose minimum. I have thought about going ahead and using the Fort Dodge Innovater + EWT. What are you using this year for WNV?

We will be using the FD Innovator + EWT. We used it last year and will not even consider using anything else this year. I did use the Merial vaccine in 2005 and won't buy it again, for a couple of reasons. I bought the 5 dose vials that year, but I did have to buy 2 or 3 single vials to finish up the herd--here we have to buy vaccines from our vet, and there was no problem in buying 2 or 3 single doses.

I've always used the Recombitek.

This year I'm switching to the new Intervet WNV which is a Chimera vaccine they call it Prevenile. They only need one shot a year regardless of whether or not they've ever been vaccinated.

This vaccine is also what my vet is switching too, he says it's an extremely good vaccine from the studies they've done. He's very impressed!!!!

I ordered mine from Heartland Vet Supply, they don't have it on their website but they have it if you call them, it comes in 5 dose vials and individuals.

Here is the link.....................

The vectored vaccine (Chimara) is supposidly AMAZING. I would try it in a heartbeat. I use Recombitek right now, and wouldn't switch back to Fort Dodge at all. Its ancient, and much less effective compared to the newer vaccines. It was a wonderful vaccine when it was needed, but now we have better options avalible.

Have you ordered from Heartland before? Reading about that vaccine, it does sound excellent. I have been using the Intervet vaccines for tetanus, WEE, and EEE, and I have always been happy with them.

This was my first year ordering from Heartland, but a friend with big horses has used them for years.

I was extremely impressed!!!

They price match from any other internet website, so I got all my vaccines for the best prices from the same place.

My vaccines were actually packed in a styrofoam cooler and 2cd day air shipped with 5 ice bags :aktion033: They will overnight in hot weather or upon request.

The past several years I've ordered from Valley Vet, who is also wonderful. They overnight ship, in a cardboard box lined with styrofoam and one or two ice packs depending on how many vaccines.

The link for Prevenile would not work for me???????????
