I raised a smart girl. If you are not best friends with mom or even if you are I would at least let it be known without judgement as Jodi said that you have become aware of the deception and that if it were your daughter and if you were as devastated as this mom is that you would want to know. In all ways a **** job is far less upsetting than breast cancer is. As for the daughter with this kind of deception going on she is bound to hang in her own rope eventually they all do after awhile. But am sure you could at least allay the moms fears about losing her daughter. Every thing is relative after all. I know this has you upset and I dont blame you but most of the time truth will triumph. At least even if mom doesnt initiallly believe you you have planted a seed that she will think about and also as Jodi said it is then in her court to proceed or not as she sees fit. You will have done what you felt was right.
