I know this has been here before or close anyway. With year end awards coming up for our club and many others what are some neat ideas that don't break the bank. Under $25?

Thanks Mark

You can get small plastic but glass-looking 'tropies' (rectangular shaped) and have some writing put on them. And small plaques with a marble background look nice but are often fairly cheap.

Get useful things like embrodered stuff, like duffle bags. halter bags, etc.

I know theres places you can get mugs with pictures on them or mouse pads with pictures like if someone has pictures of the winner and their horse(s).

Another tactic that our club used last year is that if someone won more than one award it was listed on one item that they won. For example, last year they had writing put on duffle bags and such (i dont know what else I wasn't actually at the party last year) and I won 2 Amateur classes but they were both listed on the bag. So doubling up can help save some money, I would think. I would think often, especially a youth, wins more than one.

Thats all I got for now..

Karla,

I had thought about the Tractor Supply gift cert. We finally have 2 in Maine! Just visited the one closest 15 miles from us. They are planning 5-7 more up here!

Some of my very favorite year end awards came from SPHO Maine, One was a leather halter with brass plates, one side my horses name, the other was his National Champion award, Ok that was perhaps more than $25

My other favorite still hangs prominetly in my kitchen, they took my favorite head shot of my horse and had a Maine artist paint it on a slate. (I believe it was $25) I love it and think it is a timeless treasure

I know kids seem to like trophies, but I'm at the point where most items like that either get thrown in a box or put somewhere out of the way. There's already too much "stuff" in this house! My vote just goes for useful items. Some sort of Visa gift cards would be more useful (from my point of view) since gas to drive to a TS store would probably cost more than the value of a gift card. Perhaps getting together a list of ideas and notifying all the people who've won and letting them pick something from the list? And if anyone has more than one award giving them an option for two smaller things or one thing that may cost more might work.

I agree with Jen as far as the trophies go. I am all for useful stuff. Queensboro shirt company offers REALLY good deals on shirts, fleece jackets, etc and they'll do the embroidery for free and there is no set up fee either. The more you order, the cheaper it is. Letting people choose what they want is also a good idea. TSC is pretty close to me and I'd be more then happy with a gift certificate, but for someone else, it may not be so close and they'll never use it. Having a list of items you can choose from would make sure everyone got something they'll love and that would give people the option on a trophy as well if they'd rather have that. I love getting stuff I can use- coolers, buckets, sheets, shirts/jackets to wear, etc. Starfish Tack does leather halters that fit Mini's(I think it's a full sized horse halter in suckling size that she has) and you can get a brass plate put on with something like 2007 MMHC Champion or something.

Kids love to get halters, lounge lines, brushes, halter bags, and supplies. Some of our local tack shops will work with us and sell for wholesale prices on theese things. So I suggest you talk with the local tack shops!
