    I Did a Thing...

Ha! Challenge horse as in single animal??! Oh lady, we've had several. He's just the most recent. But yes, it's incredibly rewarding to see him, handle him and work with him now. We've put a lot into him, but it's definitely been worth it. I do believe Ali's learned a lot from the process.

    I Did a Thing...

I actually had not. I located some pictures of him from his show days with his most previous trainer - not the one in the states he'd been with for a longer time. But I haven't seen any video of him from that time, nor had I seen him in person. I've actually seen very few fine harness classes...

    I Did a Thing...

@HersheyMint he sure is!! Yesterday was the first anniversary of meeting him and having my first drive with him. I thought then that he'd win the dressage. Looking at him now, wow! He's sure made remarkable improvements over the last year.

    Driving Discussion 2024

@Marsha Cassada that's my most frequent view! lol @Cayuse I'll surely do that. I appreciate that some people like appies a lot. I'm not one of them. But Ali's learning a lot with him and he's fairly safe.

    Driving Discussion 2024

We have a new friend on the farm. We trialed a mini mare for my friend and her 2 children. The mare kicked my mom 3 times, unprovoked. So she was unwelcomed at the farm. My very skilled and experienced friend took her and we exchanged for a free lease on her retired driving mini, Ricco...

    2024 Hours Driven

Saturday I took out Phillippe for a trip around the hay field while ponying his new friend Ricco. We were out for 45 minutes. Jasmine went out with her spare kid for an hour as well! Handy to have extra kids around to drive when I'm down one. Sunday I drove Jasmine and Ali took out Falcor for...

    I Did a Thing...

My daughter came home from visiting her dad on Saturday. Bless that kid, 10:15 pm, we're heading home and she asks if it's too late to go up and see the horses. Nope, never too late! So we went to find the horses in head lamps and flip flops... lol Sunday Ali asked if she could try driving...

    I Did a Thing...

We are now able to go out for drives by ourselves in the field and just walk! Learning more and more about my pony, it's interesting where he's at now. Our drive started out head up, engaged, happy and relaxed. We did some work through some cones I'd set up, then we proceeded to go walk around...

    2024 Hours Driven

Falcor went out with me last night. Another walk around the hay field, this time alone. 45 minutes and it was really nice!

    Not a pony

Hard to argue with the old guys when they decide to get somewhere comfy. What a darling. Sorry to hear about your losses. Gordon setters are probably the most beautiful dog breed in the world.

Awe, that's good. I'm glad it's gone to a good home that will get a lot of use out of it. And I'm also really glad you still have his bridles. No hurry to clean out the closet. It's absolutely ok to have some things stay.

    Bellcrown Cart fitting

I'd get all the measurements of the cart against all the measurements of your pony. I'd tend to go a little bigger with carts, for example, I'd buy a small pony cart rather than a mini cart for our 36" mare. I'm glad I did. It was way more comfortable for her and my daughter to drive in...

    2024 Hours Driven

Took Phillippe and Falcor out for a beautiful walk around our hay field today for 45 minutes. Was so nice! My mom wanted to drive with me, so she took out Phillippe while I drove Falcor. It was nice to be able to drive the two together and just relax.

    2024 Hours Driven

It's a big summer fair on our province's third-largest city. I wrote about it in the Driving Discussion thread.

Hmmmm, let's give it a couple of weeks. Even with the exchange rate, it's a good price for me.

I wonder if it would fit Phillippe. I'd like to get a non-coloured harness to have for rail shows.

Hooray for more Thera-ponies!! How lovely that you share your darling littles with others that way. Welcome!!

    Jeffrey’s update.

Hooray for Jeffy updates!!! I've learned that you need to be able to teach a donkey something 3 times, the right way, and they'll know it for life. Phillippe had 3 "schooling" sessions with a spray bottle and now has no issues standing for it. It's very simple. He's not tied. I spray a leg...

    Driving Discussion 2024

Westerner Days 2024! The Alberta Donkey and Mule Club was invited to join the Agventure pavilion and provide daily long-ears demos. We opted to join in the parade as well. Tuesday evening, I travelled down with Phillippe and Jasmine and got them settled in. The venue is a large hall that's...
