Are your babies born with blue eyes?

It seems to be pretty divided on if they are supposed to have blue eyes or not. I've never seen it on a foal before, but what if I didn't look closely enough? And those fb color genetic groups are all over the place between people that know what they are talking about and people that got a pony...

Need Guidance - Minis got into Chick Starter (non-medicated)

Glad they are doing better! My boys get a kick out of chasing the guineas, but the girls always leave them alone.

Are your babies born with blue eyes?

I've never seen a foal born with blueish gray eyes before. But google says that either all foals have them or no foals have them, or creme foals might have them depending on the website, so I figured I would ask the experts. We have waited for enough foals to be born that a few people should be...

Need Guidance - Minis got into Chick Starter (non-medicated)

I don't even know what to say except I hope they are ok.

    Cookie from Southwest Georgia

He's very cute! Our local mini club considers anything 40" or under to be a mini, so you can probably choose whatever you like to call him.

    Edelweiss Training Journal

Your place is incredibly beautiful and the ponies all look great!

Can you show a one eyed pony?

🤣 🤣 Well, to be fair, the rules may have changed. But it seems silly not to allow it.

Can you show a one eyed pony?

I don't know what the rules were. But I do know that often someone will answer the question without looking up the rules. They are difficult and often a specific scenario is not "accepted" but there isn't any real rule against it. And of course the judges don't always know or follow the rules...

    Calming paste

I don't know, but let us know if you try something and it works. We had 4 or 5 incredible displays over here last year and my guys were not bothered. I thought they would be, it was shaking the house. But the yearling is a little higher strung and I'm worried he will get the baby worked up. So...

    Boardjoring

Mine knows better than to encourage me. If I get hurt, he is the one stuck shoveling! 🤣

    Boardjoring

It's so neat to watch. I need to keep my feet on the ground at this point, but if I were 20 years younger I might have given it a shot. Well, make that 30 years younger.

    HPR 2024

Congrats! He is absolutely gorgeous! I love to see the babies, even though I have my own to play with now.

Can you show a one eyed pony?

I don't think there is a rule against it, but any class that you are showing on looks it's going to be a problem if you want to win. For myself I would get a note from the vet stating that it was an illness or injury, and that she is sound to show. Just in case anyone makes a big deal out of it...

    Elderly mini and difficult decisions

That's going to depend on your relationship and your husband's level of horse sense, I guess. I had to make a similar difficult decision this year, and I let my husband know I was thinking about the decision. Then I made the decision and let him know. He isn't going to deal well with the reality...

    Elderly mini and difficult decisions

So sorry you are going through this, it's always a hard decision to make. I always feel like your gut knows the right thing to do, it's when you listen to your heart that you get into trouble. But in your case it seems like you can hold off on the decision for a little bit. No reason you can't...

    2024 crafter's delight - whatcha working on?

I especially love the baby quilt! I always wonder how you all have time for such great projects while keeping animals. I haven't had time to paint in weeks.

    Keeping in shape over summer

When it's really hot I work mine shortly before bed. It's not a lot cooler, but the sun isn't beating down on us.

Yay! Congrats! Sleep is the best thing about finally having a foal. 🤣

    Rabies

That's very scary. I always do rabies shots on my horses and sheep. I have had an occasional bad reaction, but it seems to be certain brands. If you know he reacts to one specifically, write it down and have them use a different one.

    Germany bans young horse training

I'm not sure but it sounds like you are not allowed to do any training before 30 months. It doesn't really specify anywhere if training only means riding. Which would mean you cannot halter train them, train them for the farrier, or pretty much handle them at all. Trying to get around it by...
