    Show Clothes

If you are not used to sewing clothing, it is a little different than quilting. That said, I'm certain that you could do it with a little practice. My suggestions would be to sew something from an easy pattern, like a shirt, etc. and see what you think of the finished product before going with...

Mare How to really know when?

when you see the bag appear, it's time Everything said already......yep. And then, there are the "other" horses The maidens are normally the hardest to detect, if that's any comfort. I've noticed that my girls liked to settle into their stalls in a fairly specific way. One corner to...

    Show horse makeup

Lip liner pencils, soft eyeliner pencils, etc. You can get browns. Blend out with some gloss. And, you can buy cans of spray on but...not good by the eyes! Here's a tip: Halloween makeup kits --- yep, buy them up Nov 1. Lots of colors to use/blend. The work very well, are not...

    Average days of mini gestation?

Size of mare has been a factor. My smaller mares generally foal 300-312 days, the taller girls usually go 315-330. By smaller I refer to my 27 - 30" mares. I used to hand breed all so kept excellent service records and followed dates. Have had a couple <300.

The Whole Foods Alternative to ObamaCare -- 8 Things

People and lifestyles have changed so very dramatically of the past 50-60 years...some good, some bad. I think we can ALL agree that fast food eating and lack of exercise contibute to, or actually cause, many of the issues we see with rampant weight, blood pressure and diabetic issues. NO, not...

    Anyone else waiting?

and IT'S GONNA GET WORSE/STAY SLOW .... new foal registrations will start to arrive (for those who don't wait until 12/31 ). They may want to consider hiring PT help for these couple of months when this continually happens. Been so as long as I have been in minis !! With DNA being...

I have a few questions and opinions...

If his teeth need work, it needs done NOW, not when weather clears. If he has seen this and did NOT CALL YOU, then he's negligent in his dutiy as a trainer to NOT advise he isn't training due to such an issue. I would THINK that a trainer who charges the fee you state would have an indoor...

    Foaling Supplies and Medications

I alway keep a light of some type -- The hunter's headgear is GREAT becaus it lets you have both hands free to use if needed. When/if you are needing to help you often can benefit from a focused light source!! Move your head and you move the light to where you need it. This also allows you...

Has anyone tried that new whipped peanut butter

I'm a JIF user and have never had an issue with it tearing up the bread, it's smooth and wonderful! AND it come with lower sugar/fat/salt, so why change?? Actually, I have tried PPan and don't like the taste as well. Yes, I eat it by the spoonful often. It isn't unusual to have PB...

Don't stallions determine the sex of the foal?

When I was breeding for 20-30 foals a season, years ago, the ratios of filly/colt for my stallions was of concern as I found it to carry through within a small percentage of change. None of my original stallions were purchased as young stock, so there was stud book backgrounds to check...

    Preditor Protector

Years back I raised mini horses, mini donks and Boer goats. Mostly they did great around one another, you could run some together with no issues and the donks were definately protectors! They did NOT like dogs....or some other small things, rabbits, possums, etc. Then, I brought home a...

    Portable Electric Fence

Amy Tractor Supply, Lowe's, etc. ... or such store. Also, online you can order from Jeffers, FarmTek, and the like. It can work so long as the animals are introduced to it and realize the shock value. If they ever learn to run-through and break it, they will continue. That said, winter...

    28 HORSES STARVED TO DEATH!!

When I became involved in AMHA, '91, 4Gs and Grady were well established and active. About 93ish, when DNA was being introduced as a requirement he was totally against that -- he then began Gold Seal, dropped from AMHA, etc. DNA was his demon. It is a huge tragedy for these animals that this...

Do you think folks are spending less time here now?

My thoughts -- the economy has been in a slump for a couple of years and the mini horse markets/shows/farms and all associated activities have declined. This would account for some of the "slow-down" in people and related posts/question, etc. It's the snowball effect. Some of the "old...
