Need creative ideas to help the elderly

Marty, I haven't read through all of the replies, but as soon as I read your post I knew exactly what you were talking about. I live on an acreage owned by an elderly widow with MS. Some years ago we bought 4 acres and the guest house from her: where we live. We mowed her lawn (2 acres), took...

    I Love My Goat Girls

AnnaC, Thank you for the compliments.I have 14 goats that I breed for pet and show(eventually when I get extra time). I sold seven of this year's ten kids and I'll have hay money for winter.(Yay!) I mostly like having a huge petting zoo in my backyard. I did milk a pygmy goat that I had in order...

    I Love My Goat Girls

I have been meaning to post pics of my goats for quite a while... so here goes: These are pictures of my Standard and Mini Silky Fainter does in the pasture just the other day. And I had to take pics of my fat mini boys, too. The photo session ended when my gelding (the grey-looking silver bay)...

    Just out of interest

mrsj- Haflinger came to my mind when I saw your pic of him. And I like Haflingers. My boys are chunky monkeys right now; good pasture, no hard labor, my guys have it made.

    "Like" my page

You can always "Hide" posts from folks that are acquaintences so you don't have to see everyones posts. But those people still remain on your "Friends List". I'd also recommend checking out your "privacy" on the accounts tab to make sure nothing is public.

    Bucket list

You HAVE to do this! My dad was a naval officer stationed in S.D., CA and was transferred to Annapolis back in the late '80's. He drove us across the US (and back again 3 years later) to our new home in MD. I was a 13 year old and I loved every minute of it- the travel and the stops, that...

For those of you who have goats?

Actually, goats need copper whereas too much will kill a sheep, so I don't buy feed for goats AND sheep. If anything, I buy feed strictly for goats or goats and cattle(who need copper, too)- but not the medicated kind for cattle. Also, loose mineral as opposed to block mineral for goats or beef...

    What a day yesterday

Wow! Isn't that a tiny baby for this time of year? (I thought an app. 4 month old baby would be bigger.) What a cutie! I'm glad you took the time and energy to help her out. I think you need to get a couple of milk goats for such an emergency.

Never had this happen before...anyone else?

You're going to think I'm a nut, but after reading this post and clicking on the link to see what a "warble" looked like, I'm a little afraid of going on the Back Porch. Because, you know, there might be one online... and it might get me. Great...something else to be afraid of other than...

    Stupid question.......but

My husband bought me a pair of battery operated self heating socks. Love them! Also around here in the winter (Nebraska, USA) stores sell shoe and glove inserts- little packages of sandlike stuff that you open up and they produce 8 hrs of heat for your toes or fingers. Love those, too. Cold toes...

    Obama Visit

Glad you enjoyed his visit. I get a kick out of foreign dignitaries visiting us in the US, too. I hope someday I can visit Ireland (my ancestors are Boyles and Keeches) and I hope I don't have to become president to do so.

What is your opinion on this?

I didn't see mention of the issue of separation of church and state, as to many, this is a religious issue. Now, I am not personally Jewish (or religious, for that matter) but my step-dad is and I know the Jewish community would be up in arms about this. Government needs to back off. As for my...
