Has anyone ever made braided horsehair jewelry?

Her work is absolutely beautiful! Thank you for posting the link. I've always wanted to learn how to braid horsehair; now I think I will just commission Jacquee' to make some jewelry for me instead! I just love her silver pieces as well as her custom pieces. Her prices seem reasonable, too...

    Learning the hard way

I'm so very sorry for your losses. What a painful and heartbreaking ordeal. Thank you so much for sharing so that others can be educated. I, too, had no idea that cherry trees were toxic. They don't really grow here but it's good to know anyways. Sending you healing thoughts and condolences.

    Miniature Therapy Horse Program

Rachel (Sixstardanes), I contacted Love On A Leash about my minis becoming visiting horses. The woman told me that they had to be "potty trained". The group near me mostly has dogs and this woman didn't seem too interested in having a mini in the program. My minis have done visitation before...

Who's making his own blankets & Hoods?

Suitability Website The website also lists sources for the specialty materials used in horse clothing construction. Katiean, just curious...why won't you put Lycra on your horses? I have the Suitability pattern and was going to make some hoods and blankets for my horses when I clip them next...

    Australia Wildfires--96 killed; deadliest ever

Sassy1, so glad to hear you are okay. Thanks for checking in. This is such a horrific tragedy. Wildfires are the most terrifying thing and we see our fair share here in California. I just cannot believe the death toll in Victoria! Those poor families...people and animals alike. I'm sorry...

    FIRESTORM MAP -

Oh my gosh, this is just so unbelievable. Wildfires are a way of life in California, too, and most people in fire areas are told to have a plan in place, though not everyone does. The fire departments are debating a "stay-and-defend" policy since they know there are those that just won't...

    FIRESTORM MAP -

Thank you for the map, Leonie. When these fires are so out of control, the only thing to do is evacuate. There can be no stopping them. Anyone who's been in or around a wildfire knows all too well. California lost five firefighters in 2006 to a wildfire started by an arsonist; he's currently...

    Australia Wildfires--96 killed; deadliest ever

Thanks for checking in Leonie. I am glad you are okay but stay on guard. I heard the death toll had risen and they expect it to go higher; I'm keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. We in California have seen such devastation firsthand, but not like what you are experiencing over there...

    I'm going to New Orleans!

I haven't been there in forever; my sister used to live there. You must go to Cafe Du Monde and have beignets (pronounced "ben-yays") and coffee/tea. Beignets are yummy! It's a great people watching spot, if I recall correctly. It's in the French Market. Have a great time!!

    Australia Wildfires--96 killed; deadliest ever

Austraila Wildfires I hope all our Australian forum members are okay. This is a very tragic situation down under. Living in California, where we have our share of wildfires, I can feel for these folks and my heart (and prayers) go out to them. There are also floods in the north: "While...

TV Shows Worth Catching on DVD

Hi Matt, My husband just ordered Season 2. I can't wait! I've done a couple of 3-episode marathons. The last episode of Season 1 was great! Thanks for piquing my curiosity. Take care, Rebecca

TV Shows Worth Catching on DVD

I was intrigued when I got the Dexter second season DVD for my secret santa. Now my husband and I are hooked and just finished season one. Great show! It can be a bit gruesome but good storylines. Another favorite is "Big Love" on HBO. We really like that show, too. It's about a polygamist...

    Humidity Or Not

Southern California gets my vote. Weather is the main reason we stay here. Humidity is extremely low and weather is mild for most of the year. We live fairly close to the coast so we don't experience extremes in weather that some parts of the state do. In summer we have an ocean breeze that...

    neglected mini

Bless you for taking him in. I'll be keeping good thoughts for a successful recovery. Do get a vet to look at him and go from there--that's the best advice. Pete Ramey has some excellent information on trimming foundered feet, even the "elf shoes". Here's his website: Pete Ramey

    Trailer accident!

OMG!! Thank God you are all okay. I'm in California, too, and do drive closer to the 55 truck and trailer speed limit. However, in all fairness, most of the freeways I drive on are at least 4 lanes wide so there is plenty of room for cars to pass. The bigger problem here is ending up...
