I agree about the different bale sizes. Our bales here are 3-strand and weigh about 110 lbs. each. I guess I am obsessive as I do weigh my minis' hay every meal.

I couldn't get the link to play. What's with the mare on the Lil Ponderosa camera? She's been circling around the other horse in the stall and is wearing a track in the shavings! Poor girl. She ducks her head when she gets to the corners.

Has your horse actually been diagnosed as IR? If so, the most critical thing you can do is get his diet under control (low NSCs--non-structural carbohydrates). I have a profoundly insulin resistant pony and this literally saved her life. Once I started testing her hay and only buying...

I saw on the Mare Stare calendar that the colt didn't make it Love Song--was due 4/12. The mare looks to be resting now. Poor girl...hope she's okay. (P.S.-What does "foaling derby" mean on the Mare Stare calendar?)
