Silver Bays - If you have one...can you share a clipped photo?

Mine is a bit darker then the one you have pictured, but here is my silver bay clipped. She is pretty light for the first few clippings, but gets darker and darker as the summer/fall go on.

Anybody else itching to clip horses?

I can't wait for spring so I can clip!! We are still have sub zero temps up here in Maine, so I cant clip until April, but April cant get here soon enough! I HATE winter hair! I usually head and neck clip in March and do bodies Mid/late April. It seems sooo far away. Come on warmer weather! ~Jen~

    DAC Oil?

I used DAC Oil & Orange Supreme during the 2008 show season. I liked it and had really good results with it. I have since switched to Omega Horseshine with even better results, but when my horses were on DAC Oil, I was happy with the results. Even my picky ones would eat it. If I was ever not...

    alfalfa pellets/cubes protein %

Our Alfalfa cubes we get have 15% protein. The brand is Bio-Cube and they come out of Canada(www.bio-cube.com). They are the best cubes around I've found to feed. Tried the local feedstores cubes and they are hard as rocks, take forever to soak and my horses refuse to eat them. The Bio-Cubes are...

AMHA Pointed Series in New England

If the points dont count for anything through AMHA, why not allow AMHR horses as well? If your points are only going towards your own year end awards system, why only allow AMHA horses? You may get some extra horses by doing some AMHR type classes as well? If the points go towards honor roll...

Talk to me about your bitting rigs

Mine came from Starlake as well and I really like it. It came complete with sidereins and a bridle. I love it all, except the bridle. The surcingle fits all my Mini's. We use it on everything from a petite build 32" Mini all the way up to a rugged built 37" Mini. It fits them all. The sidereins...

We know your stallions, show horses, seen foals

This is a very tough question! I love all my horses very much. Each one is special in their own way. But, I guess I would have to say that my "buddy" is my mare who was born here, VPS Just A Tad Bad( aka "Callie"). She is a tough mare and is not the easiest little girl to get along with and deal...

    Secret Santa Gift thread

I got mine on Saturday THANK YOU BLUE STAR!! I love it! I got a super warm fleece blanket, which arrived on a perfect day when it was below zero with the wind chills up here! I also got a VERY yummy jar of toffee popcorn. I find myself grabbing a hanfdul everytime I walk by the jar. I also...

    Hoof Boots

I have had alot of luck building a shoe out of Superfast on the foot and then using Equi-Pak as a "pad" in the center. The Equipak(also made by Vettec) provides a really good cushion. If you apply the Superfast and Equi-Pak correctly, I've had it stay in place for 6 weeks and I pulled it...

Halters on or off at night(in the barn)

My horses have halters off unless I am working with them or they are being trailered. They are never turned out with halters and are not left in their stalls with halters on. I always keep a few halters hung on the fence so they are in a spot easy to grab incase I need them. And when the horses...

    Interest in AMHR club

I am in Maine and would be VERY interested in an AMHR based club with AMHR rated shows. All the clubs up this way are AMHA based, although one does an AMHR show with their AMHA show. I know we would appreciate more AMHR shows up this way to make qualifying for Nationals a bit easier. ~Jen~

Vettec hoof protection -- Super Fast and Sole Guard

I am a Farrier and LOVE the Vettec products. I have not used sole Guard, however, I have used Super Fast and have had very good luck with it. I've used it on both full size horses and Mini's. If you are making a shoe out of the Super Fast, the key to getting it to stay in place for any length of...

Anyone had any trouble w/ Double Diamond shipments?

My orders have always been shipped out quickly from them. However, I ordered 2 sheets and a foal blanket, for a new foal I was purchasing, from them and didnt hear or get anything for weeks. I think it took over a month to recieve anything. By then, I no longer needed the foal blanket, as the...

    is this ok to do?

Each horse is very different, but if we know we have a 3 year old driving entry, we start them the fall of their 2 year old year. Because Maine weather stinks during the winter, they are not driven at all during the winter. We'll put the time into them the fall of their 2 year old year and get...
