Who's horses have a choice on a snowy day?

I also live in Oregon. During the winter, my horses are stalled at night and turned out during the day. Outside they have a 3 sided shelter that they can use at will. Most of the time, they dont. They wear blankets when the temps are freezing or below, or if its raining really hard. Otherwise...

    NWMHC Schooling Show

Shari, If you can find a way to spare a little extra money, you should come. Its the cheapest show around and is fun. Very laid back and enjoyable. At least come to visit.

    NWMHC Schooling Show

Susanne, I've got ALOT more white to keep clean than you I'm so not looking forward to it. Rebel is a little piggy like his daddy. Its insane to see how much they are alike. Definately his fathers son. I'd like to get Rebel up to Crystals a couple weeks before hand to clip and bathe. Of...

Do you do Line or In breeding?

There is a filly that I was interested in purchasing. She is the result of breeding a daughter back to her own father, and along came this gorgeous filly. Now I dont really like breeding that close, BUT since my stock doesnt share ANY of her bloodlines I would buy her to breed in the future...

    Peeing on Hay?

No, Chip does NOT pee in his hay. Pee and poop belongs along the far wall, well away from any food. He must have shared his foalhood (like childhood lol) with his son, Rebel, because he doesn't pee in his hay either. And I highly doubt Sandi (Rebels dam) taught him the same way Ariel taught Chip.

    Rope Halters

I bought a Parelli rope halter at a clinic a few years back. Used it on my stallion and now that is ALL I will use on him. I do everything with him while hes wearing it. Leads, ties, hauls, lunges, breeds, ect. He is MUCH more responsive in his rope halter than a nylon halter. My others also...

How often do you breed mares?

Hey guys, Just curious how many of you breed your mares every year? Do you breed them a couple years in a row, then give them a year or two off? E

    NW PEOPLE

As you neighbor, literally... I usually feed Nutrena SafeChoice. I like it because it isn't as starchy as other feeds and is less dangerous if slightly overfed. Its made for horses of all ages and exercise levels. All of my kids loves it and looked awesome on it. Also, being a pelleted feed, it...

I received a big shock this week

Its hard to believe... Chip, who adopted me when he was almost a two year old, will be 8 in May. EIGHT! OMG where did the last 7 years go?! My dear Sandi, although she doesnt show her age even in the slightest, will be 10 real soon. And come April, Rebel will be a yearling... He was just...

    My job will end

I received a big shock this week

Yes my big sister Vicky is 28 today! Yay and happy birthday sissy! Love you! As Marie (Shortpigs) "adpoted" daughter, she will have to deal with this again in a couple months as I will be hitting 21 come April!

    Ideas for a registered name?

Here is the best "eye" shot I have of him right now. Until the weather gets better so the sunlight can hit it right, this will have to do. He's about 4 months in this photo. Not the most flattering by any means. See his eye though...weird color...and all the light buckskin-ish color around his...

    Ideas for a registered name?

Joanne, He looks like he has blue eyes huh?! LOL But they aren't. Thats why I'm thinking hes got dilute going on somewhere in the genetics, because they aren't brown and they aren't blue. And his color is weird too. His dams dam was registered as a palomino, but I was told by someone who saw...

    Ideas for a registered name?

Now if we're gonna name him after a grandparent Marie, I think we should go with Ariel LOL I just got done telling Rebel what a piece of work his granddam is while I was out cleaning stalls...

    Ideas for a registered name?

I'm in need of a registered name for my 2008 colt. Anyone got ideas??? His barn name is Rebel. He was born in April and although can be a brat at times, is actually pretty laid back and calm. His sire is Chip (DF Chip Ahoy a silver bay pinto) and his dam is Sandi (CN Pecan Sandi a buckskin...

    Should we do something different

I'm always behind the camera...an aspiring photgrapher. Heres me, in all my chubby-ness, last summer with my stallion. And a quick shot, snapped with my cell...quite a few months back while we were at the beach.

    Damage from Snow Pack Builds

Checking in... Finally got power back about an hour ago! Thank god! Lost it on Christmas Eve, late afternoon. Marie (Shortpigs) daughter and one of my best friends, rescued me for the night so I was able to shower and get warmed up, plus go with her when she drove her husband into work for his...

My Horses here in the Wintry Northwest

All the kids are looking good... Funny, even through the long hair and all the snow, I can spot Ariel without hesitation. Wheres the Duck? <--- Much better. You can't leave her out.
