I am so sorry to read about your husband's accident and the wound you all are now dealing with.... I hope that they are able to treat it or have the surgery needed and that you can relax some (I know much easier to say than to do since you love him and it is painful to see him in pain).... Good...

I am no expert but I would assume that his sire is heterozygous for grey (just one grey gene and not two) and so he did not pass the grey gene on to your colt. If you plan to use him for breeding I would test for LWO - it can hide so better to know than to not know until it is too late. Sorry...
