OK I just had to share

So, I woke up this morning with so much to do, frantically running around trying to get things done before people come over tomorrow. In the midst of all the stress I looked out into the pasture, saw this which made me smile and decided I had to get a pic to share. Hopefully it makes you stop...

    Just some fun pics

I think they're enjoying their time off. A lot of them have been show horses and in a stall a lot, but after losing my job and then moving I won't be showing this summer. It's the first time in about 10 years I've had the chance to wake up, look out the window and see my horses The boys setup...

    Just some fun pics

Well, we moved last fall, and I anxiously waited all winter so we could get a shelter and fencing up and get the horses moved. There's nothing better than being able to look out the bedroom window or sit on the back porch and watch my horses! Clearly they're all stressed and need a vacation...

    high risk mare on marestare

Diana was kind enough to wait for me to get there, get the barn horses fed, get her stall cleaned, straw down, tail up and them poof..down she went. If anyone was watching and noticed me jump right in there pretty much when she went down...it was a red bag. Lucky me! Normally I let nature take...

    high risk mare on marestare

Diana is currently lowest pH (dropped overnight), loose manure and we're thinking is going very soon. Please keep an eye on her if you get a chance and if you see something don't hesitate to call. Someone will be within 2 min of her all day.

    help watching mares - please

Maddie foaled about 12:30 this morning. YAY FINALLY! It's a sorrel colt. It was a tight fit and Tracy had to help her get him out, but he was trying to stand before he was even all the way out. It was probably the fastest I've had a foal stand and he was hopping around and kicking at mom in no...

    help watching mares - please

Maddie just doesn't want to cooperate and make anything easy. She lays down a lot and tends to lay out flat. She did lose her mucous plug last Wed so in theory (HAHA) she should let go of that foal already! Maddie has a very small bag that tends to come and go so while we're keeping an eye on...

    Zoning

When we were looking to buy a new place last year we knew we needed to ask about zoning just to be safe. I was paranoid about it...what if we spend all this money and find out I can't put the horses there! We did find one house that we liked enough and the land would work, and when I asked they...

    Driving ring size

I just wanted to say thanks for all the input! It will be for a personal ring. Last fall we bought a house and had contemplated using the "not so nice" land (ie the land that got butchered to install cable) as my new ring, but I wasn't sure if it would be big enough to safely handle a driving...

    Stall mats

We're looking to put stall mats in all stalls and aisle. There's such a wide variety available out there I was hoping to get suggestions on the best place to find stall mats which is also cost effective...what your experiences are and if you're happy with the results. Thanks!

Building barns and horsekeeping on small acreage

While I've always had horses, I've always had the facilities and the land to support them. Now that I've moved from about 50 acres to 5 acres with no barn I'm looking for ideas on building a new barn.....any suggestions...do's and don'ts..what you would do differently etc. Ideally I'm going to...

What brand of clippers do you use?

I have used the Double K's, but the cord is so stiff it bothered my wrist to use them for any length of time. Plus, on the smaller horses it made it a little harder to get into those hidden places. It's hard enough work body clipping in the first place...I felt like it was just an extra workout...

    2009 Nationals

You can see baby pictures and last year's Nationals win picture of the Rhapsody colt at rhapsodyshetlands.com under 2008 foals. I saw him in person last year when I picked up my filly from them and all I can say is WOW.

I had the same question and was told since the papers are valid until 12/31 it would be ok to show until the end of the year.

    My new colt

Thanks everyone! After losing my only foal last year I'm really just excited to have him healthy, but I'm definitely pleased with him. I also bought his full sister from last year (solid bay..go figure!) and was hoping to get another nice foal and he didn't disappoint! I've never seen his sire...

    My new colt

I didn't measure him, but he's a pretty big boy. His sire is Ten L Tigers Legacy who can been seen on their website and his dam is Buckeye WCF Classical Carnival (Graham's Little King Lee x Gold Melody Boy's Crescent Penny). He'll be AMHR/ASPC. I'm hoping to have him at Nationals for the...
