    My Dark Secret

Lori, I'd love to hear more from you! Hey Kimmie, thanks! I am done "collecting" for now, no more space in the barn! I am very happy with the little herd we have put together. We have some Arenosa, Bond/Toy, and now Buckeroo bloodlines going on. I could actually squeeze in 2 more stalls, but...

They say it comes it threes...

Oh no, what a horrible shock for you and baby Phoenix! Lexi was a beautiful mare. I am so very sorry and wish there was a way I could help with suggestions for foal feeding but I'm new at that. You will be in my thoughts, and please post how Phoenix is doing when you can.

    Prayers still needed!

God bless you Linda! You are in my thoughts and prayers daily. I completely agree with saving the travel time and skipping Dartmouth in favor of close to home, for the same treatment (minus the negativity!). Your attitude is so inspiring to me, and I feel that will help your body respond to...

Safest way to introduce new mare and foal

Thank you so much for posting that, New2Minis! I hope these guys can integrate smoothly soon. Last night when everyone was stalled inside, I switched one of the bossier mares away from the newcomers' stall because she wasn't giving them a very warm welcome (lots of noise and "posturing" far as...

Safest way to introduce new mare and foal

They're here! Arrived yesterday. I'll try to get some pictures today and post an introduction. It was pouring rain yesterday here. These 2 left Montana at 90+ degrees, arrived in western Oregon to rain and 65! Thank you for the good advice. We are juggling the pasture/drylot and rotating the...

I need your help ya'll picking a breed of dog

My vote goes to the boxer as well...have 2 right now (they are the 3th and 4th ones we've had over the years). Fun and energetic when you want that, mellow the rest of the time. They are so tuned in to their people and are happiest when with you

    DailyWormers

Interesting, I might like to try this too. So when you use a daily wormer, do you still occasionally use a different wormer as a "purge"? As in, we rotate several over the year at 8 week intervals like many people I read about here do. If you feed the daily wormer is anything else still needed...

Whats your nationality!!?? And where are you from??

My dad's parents immigrated from Germany (g'ma) and Switzerland (g'pa)...landed here in Oregon and here we all are. My mom's from the Bahamas; her parents were the children and grandchildren of settlers who left Great Britain for the Bahamas. That side of the family cares a great deal for...

Have you ever seen someone sing his puppies to sleep

Love that! Never have seen anything like it before, amazing!! Boxer puppies are so adorable. I think I need one more, that white one with the fawn patch around its eye would be perfect then we'd have one of each color.

    Whitening Shampoo.

One more for you: Double K's "White Knight" worked really well, smells wonderful and is very concentrated so will last a long time.

Safest way to introduce new mare and foal

Maybe no one puts a new mare and foal together with a small herd (foal is about 3 months old)? Should I plan on a separate area till foal is a lot bigger? Maybe let the 2-year old filly run with mare and foal for company? Anyone?

    medical advice

Cara, if you are seriously having trouble breathing you need to call 911 now. You may be having an allergic reaction to something and if you are alone you need to get help in case this gets worse. Or can you at least call your parents or a neighbor to check on you in a few minutes?

Could you all spare some thoughts/prayers for our little appy boy?

Poor little guy (and poor you with all the stress of this situation)!! I am so glad to hear he had a better day and hope that is the end of his troubles.

Safest way to introduce new mare and foal

I could really use some advice please...... In a week or so, we will have a new mare and her young foal joining us (very excited). I only have 3 other horses here at the moment, the fourth is coming back in mid August (she is usually the dominant mare). When I have added a horse before, we...

    Birdcatcher Spots? (This many?)

I don't know for sure....I have read of a term "Bend'Or spots" where darker color spots appear on a red base coat. I am wondering about this too because my chestnut pinto filly as a 2-year old, has one cluster of dark hair about 3" diameter with an irregular shape, not really smooth. Thought it...
