    Having puppies questions

Well it sounds as though you have a lot on your plate. Having puppies at the best of times is not easy, let alone having them in a new location. Plastic pools are wonderful as whelping 'boxes'. Easy to hose out and keep clean too. Whelping and puppies can be messy. Lizzie

    Having puppies questions

I tend to think I have upset you somewhat, but can only go by what you were saying in the first place. I have no idea how your home is set up. Just trying to think of things which might help. Lizzie

    Having puppies questions

Actually, she could have had the bitch spayed/aborted, immediately the tie was discovered. Too late now of course and lets hope all goes well. However, the bitch must be put somewhere away from the rest of the family. Have you a laundry room maybe? Maybe she could be put in a bathroom with her...

    Having puppies questions

Get her out of the bedroom and close the door. Find a quiet room or somewhere away from the going's on in the house. Put a whelping box in there and fill it with lots of layers of newspapers. She will start nesting and tearing them up when it's time. Make sure nobody goes in with her during...

    2012 Summer Olympics

I have to say, I shall truly miss Michael Phelps after all these years. I shall also miss Misty and Carrie. Some of the greats, will be leaving us this year. I do think this has been the most exciting Olympics I can remember though and I've been a very avid Olympic watcher for at least 40 years...

3 month old filly with locked stiffle problem

No flaming here. I also think it is a genetic problem and can be passed on. Lizzie

Update on my Gypsy Vanner mare ( one eyed mare )

Thanks for the reminder Carolyn. Yes, I know the background and the horses you mentioned very well, for several generations. Just a bit of trivia for you. I knew the last owner of The Lob, very well. Lob was the sire of Bob the Blagdon. The Lob is behind an enormous number of Gypsy Horses across...

Update on my Gypsy Vanner mare ( one eyed mare )

Thanks so much for the update, Carolyn. Gypsies really are a 'can-do' breed aren't they and your girl sounds so very special. Remind me again of her breeding. I'm so glad she's coming home. You and she are going to have tremendous fun. What are your future plans for her? Don't forget to put up a...

    Olympic Equestrian Events

Sitting up waiting to see the equestrian events. Comes on here at 2.30 am! Still, it's worth it. Was thrilled to see how well Zara did yesterday. I'm sure her mum must be thrilled - oh and grandmum too. I always am glued to the TV, when the Olympics come around - winter and summer. I have...

Critic please - looking for the good, bad and ugly!

He's a lovely little fellow with beautiful colouring. He has some issues, as others have mentioned, but is in fact, a lot better than hundreds of Minis being bred today. Bravo to you, for gelding. I wish so many more, would follow suit. I'm sure he will be a flashy little driving horse. Lizzie

I updated my website.. what do you think?

Very nice layout. Easily navigated. You might want to have someone go over all pages and fix your sentence structure and punctuation. Lizzie

    Draft type miniatures

The Gypsy breeders in the UK, have been crossbreeding Gypsy Cobs to Shetlands and Minis, for at least the last ten years that I know. However, the vast majority of Gypsy fanciers in the US, do not agree with the crossing of smaller Gyspies, with all and sundry types of ponies, as some are and...

We are all just doomed..... Obamacare

Health care in the US, is an abysmal mess. There again, it seems that the entire US is in a mess these days. I remember years ago, there was always talk among Americans, of how poor the health system was in England. I never found it so. My cousin and her husband in Wales, both in their late...

    Poor Little Fellow.

Yes. He's apparently a horse dealer and knows little about any of the breeds he buys and sells. Lizzie

    Poor Little Fellow.

Ads like this, really disgust me. Even the full size saddle is too big and heavy for the horse, let alone an adult size girl riding. I hope he finds a good home where he is not so abused. Sadly, he will probably be sold to others of the same ilk...

    Little granddaughter brag.

Thank you. They are good little girls. It's not been easy for them. Two years ago, they lost their daddy very unexpectedly. He and they were extremely close, but they've plodded on and are doing well. Lizzie

Passing on to the next generation

My daughter is our 4th generation in horses. I had hoped for a 5th. However, that will probably not be. With the economy as it is, my daughter no longer breeds. We always bred sparingly, but with the price of everything in California, she can no longer afford the number of horses she had...

    Little granddaughter brag.

Thanks everyone. I should not have left my older granddaughter out. She is thirteen and an incredible artist. She was recently invited to a famous Hollywood animation studio. They were so impressed, they now have some of her art on their walls. I really am proud of both the girls. I think we...

    Hows haying going around you?

The cost of hay and pretty much everything, is why my daughter no longer breeds and has cut down her horses to only a couple. Anyone paying less than about $17 an 80lb bale, we are in envy of. And it's been so priced for several years now, here in S. Cal. Lizzie
