My poor thin rescue Wauk A Way

I had a mini with colitis and we used something, I will look up the name, but he did not have to eat it. It was applied rectally. It cleared up his loose stool in 24 hours. Once the diarrhea stopped slowly gained weight. after several hundreds of dollars and misdiagnosis I had to take him to a...

    Ponying another horse

There is a polo farm down the road and I saw one of their riders riding one and had four on each side in the field...Amazing..not something I would be doing! I can't imagine ponying with out one more person...though when I rode we did it all the time for conditioning the young horses not ready...

Overpopulation of miniature horses who's to blame?

Exactly. breeding needs to be done with real thought behind it. I imagine if there are less miniatures to choose from the prices with go up and the abuse and poor treatment from going to uneducated people will go down. Higher prices will make it harder for those who can not afford to feed them...

    Very sick mare salmonella suspected

The weanlings I got last year came with salmonella. One had colic surgery..all made it through, though it was touch and go for several weeks. I am praying for you little girl tonight. we treated all the horses that were exposed to be on the safe side. There is a test they can do to be sure it is...

Overpopulation of miniature horses who's to blame?

I agree that the economy has a hand in the issue. I also agree that due to the nature of the breed they do seem to end up in bad situations with people who know nothing about horses. The cost to feed is lower meaning it is easier for people to get in over their heads. Personally as a new mini...

Training Level expectations for driven dressage

Ok so now that everyone is steady, listening to all aids, excepting the bit....I have been working on getting the dressage part of the CDE perfect But after watching the show in NC I am not sure exactly what to work towards in the training level. Some of the horses were up in the neck , some...

Training some tough 3 year olds

I agree. I would go back to the basics. Defiantly want to be sure to have respect outside of the harness before hooking them up to the cart. I like mine to know the have a good leader before riding them too..would make me nervous to be behind a horse in a cart if I am not sure that what I say...
