Ok after seeing all the woodburns that minimule did I decided to try one.

I had a scrap piece of pine that has black mark things all over it ,also the wood is dirty in places.

My woodburning tool is an OLD Wal Mart one that I never used before.

Anyway the face looks more pot marked than just the marks I put on.

YOU NEED TO KEEP IT UP....I THINK YOU HAVE FOUND A NEW HOBBY :aktion033:

Not bad at all! I haven't tried to do people yet. My love for animals draws me to them and that is what I'm comfortable doing. I'm going to give a person a shot once I get caught up on special orders (could be a while :bgrin ) I'm doing my first trucks now......very different!

Here are some pointers: First, sand the board down good before you start anything on it. It helps! I've used scrap wood several times, oak, quality pine, old barn wood (very hard to do) and bass wood you buy at the craft store.

As for shading, that is just going to have to come with time and practice. If you can draw, you should be able to figure it out pretty easily. Let your hands do what your eyes see. It also helps if you have a burner that you can change out the tips. I have 3 tips I use the most, none are specifically for shading but for me they work.

Just keep playing with it. You'll catch on!

:aktion033: Wow immpressinve! I got a nice book at Christmas but haven't had a spare second to sit down and read it but you have re-motivated me!

I guess I was in a big hurry to get started before I changed my mind.

I LOVE your animals and thats what I really want to be able to do.

I am kind of scared to try one cause I know with my painted rocks I can't do a horse for anything
