Hi, I sent in some transfers over a month ago and ordered a dna kit from AMHA. How long does it normally take? I also did some AMHRs at the same time and I already have had those back for a while. They did cash my check right away, so I think all of the paper work was fine. Is there any way some one could look and see if the horses were transferred in my name yet? I have to start registering foals, so I wanted to make sure that these were done first before I started on the foals. Thanks in advance.

Call AMHA and ask for a status.

Just because the check was cashed is no indication that the paperwork was fine as those are two sep. departments. The money goes to accounting, the only verification at that stop is that the correct amount was submitted for the work requested. Then, the paperwork goes to the registration department to be worked in order of receipt. If they are backlogged, that can take some time to get to your papers, but sometimes a phone call can move you up in line. They can also tell you if there are any issues that need resolved.

I don't know what that department's status is right now, we (Board of Directors) haven't gotten a status report lately.

I can check if you like but more than likely they are just behind with registration with the end of the year coming up and people registering foals. YOu can call AMHA and just ask, they will take the time to check it out for you and if there is a problem it might be fixable over the phone.

AMHA has always taken awhile were the AMHR Papers are Like WOW they are already here!

It took the AMHA 6-8 Weeks to get me my Papers. and Before they sent them to me my name was Already on the AMHA Stud book

Thanks, I did just call them, and there is a problem on 2 of the 4 of them, and they just sent them back out to me last week. So I should have them anytime. Thanks again

One trick I learned about at the last meeting was to send everything separate. If you send 5 things together and there is a problem with one all get held up because they are worked as a whole file. If you package each transaction separately, each one is treated as its own file. I put each in a addressed envelope and sent them together in a large envelope. I used to send all my foals registrations together but now I just send them as soon as a foal is born. This has helped a lot.

Last DNA kit I sent for didn't come. When I called I found out the mare was already dna'd and the completed papers were on their way to me.

:new_rofl:  Took forever to get Thera's with the perm and dna.

They said of the 2 that had issues it was because of the height. When I measured both of these horses, I found them to be 1.50" taller than what was on the transfer and because I changed it I now have to have the seller resign the transfer....So I guess live & learn, I didnt know that I shouldnt change it. It was not for their permanent registration either, just transfers
