Maybe you might want to consider changing your farm name to "Coltdance" Ranch!

If this keeps up, I might have to. 6 more to go. 1 mare has had two fillies in a row, so I am expecting a colt from her. Then another two had fillies last year (one lost one), so of course, they will give me boys this year. Then three had colts last, but of course, they will give me colts again

Though, if I got all colts like the chestunt I could not complain (course the last black one is not too shabby either). I just need some fillies to breed back to the other stallion. I want to cross these two lines (Windchaser and Desperado), but in order to do that, I need FILLIES!!! (and I am not getting any younger)

If you want fillies, it also works to breed the mare only at the beginning of her heat cycle--day one or two only, and then no more--reason being the female sperm live longer than the male ones. So, you breed early, and by the time the mare ovulates only the female swimmers are left to fertilize the egg.

It does work, but only if your mares have 5 day heat cycles. If they are long winded then all you'll get is a bunch of open mares--because on a 10 days heat cycle if you breed on day one or two, all the sperm will be dead by the time the mare actually ovulates.
