Anyone here take anything for anxiety? I worry so much that I cannot stand myself sometimes.

Over the years I have taken a few different drugs for anxiety but nothing really helped much.

My doctor does not like to prescribe anything to heavy duty and that is ok by me because I do not want to take anything to strong if I can help it.

I always think of the worst, you know half-empty instead of half-full kind of thing.

There is a 3 day field trip coming up and I want my daughter to be able to go but the other hand I know I will be basket case with worry.

I have a doctor appoint at 11:15 today and I will ask her about other drugs that may help.

Any things that worked good for any of you?

I have to go in about 45 minutes but I thought I would ask anyway.

I am not depressed or anything, just a major worrier.

Hmm, I have never taken any medication, but have you tried prayer? God would love to have you cast your burdens on Him.

ST. JOHNS WART, LAVENDAR OIL, AN OIL COMBO THAT IS CALLED "JOY". PEPPERMINT TEA, SLEEPY TIME TEA. ALL THESE HAVE HELPED ME STAY OFF ANY MEDS, DON'T KNOW IF THEY MIGHT HELP YOU. I AM ON THEM HOT AND HEAVY AT THE MOMENT.

a high protein diet and a good B complex vitamin seems to be helpful in a diet sort of way. Magnesium helps stallions and people, too. Lots of extr work to keep your mind from floating so much might be considered

: Then, there's this thing called "age"....soon you won't worry, you just don't really care if the trash can gets emptied :new_shocked:

So, now you can look at your eating habits (ahhh, cut caffienes)......and laugh about the future.

I hope you do find something that works for you to calm your worry tendancies...it can be very bad for your health, as you know. And your diet can definately more it better/worse. Best of Luck.

I'm so good at coming up with things to worry over and spend so much time at it, it probably qualifies as a hobby! I can take one tiny grain of something to worry about and give me about 15 minutes. I will weave this elaborate "what if" story in my head and depending on the day and the subject, can make myself get that jello joint feeling going on and the whole 9 yards. I am a lot worse about doing this type of thing when I don't have a lot of other things that I have to think about and it's a catch 22 because once I get in the full swing of a worry story, I cannot then think about the things that are important.

No, I do not take anything for it. I really think it's within my ability to control because like I said, when I'm really busy or pre-occupied, I don't have problems.

And, a good stiff drink (perferably vodka!) can really mellow me out and make everything seem much better. No, not joking! If I didn't have real responsibilities on me, I'd have to split my spare time up between worrying and being a lush.
