Hello wonderful folks, I just wondered if there are any bellydancers on this forum? I started doing it as a workout in 2000 and got hooked on it. !! I want to add a wellness discussion to my site as well in the future.. Also another question.

I cannot get my post here to have different types of font and color.? Don't know why. Can anyone tell why my controls won't work for me?

Ok here's the truth.

This was like back in the day when aerobics and running got invented and was all the rage. They were giving belly dancing lessons at the "Y" and all they showed us was how to write the alphabet by using your belly and that was it.

I've always admired bellydancing and would have loved to try it.

However, now I'd just be a jelly-belly dancer!!!!

Perhaps it's now I should give it some serious thought.

Noticed that "pole dancing" is also the rage now. I don't mean for the public either Marty!

If Opray says it's OK then it's OK and she did! Wouldn't it be the same as Yoga with all that stretching very, very slowly and then wrapping your body around the pole?

Problem would be finding a structure in my home that could hold up to the work-out!

my freind does.

and dont worry marty, as red roses instead we will get you scrunchies, red ribbons for timmy and more bows!!!!!!!

I started belly dancing with a few videos that walk you through it. I flipped out when I saw performances by a few differetn troupes at the Raleigh (NC) Renaissance Faire and a friend and I both said "I WANT to do THAT!" We swap DVDs back and forth via mail since we live 3 hours apart, but both of us pretty well kept up with it. I had surgery back in October and am just now getting to where I am ready to go back into workout mode...thanks for the reminder! What I have seen is that belly dance can be quite provocative and sleezy and that it can also be elegant and beautiful. I like the elegant and controlled stuff myself and I have to say...I love wearing my dance pants--soft silk is so luxurious!

I can spell my name with my belly. But when I do the letter "M" it's quite riskay!

But hey, I can robot and moonwalk.....doesn't that count for anything?

I am so amazed at the way this dance slows aging. I promise I have 60year old dancers with bodies the are so good it makes you sick! To look at them you would never guess their ages. Many of them continue making a living in their 40's and 50's. Here are a few of my favs young and older.! http://www.ayshah.com/ I know Ayshah personally and have seen her dance. She also has and loves horses. http://www.gypsycaravan.us/ http://www.raniabellydance.com/photo_fr.htm Gypsyheart
