I have five performance horses and have tried to make or purchase any type jump or obstacle we may encounter at shows. Has anyone ever seen a miniature water jump ( or liverpool) in a sanctioned show? How about a roll top ? I showed hunters and jumpers for over 25 years so I am trying to duplicate any jump that gave big horses a problem. I would appreciate any ideas ya'll might have.

Thanks !

Justine

You probably have done this one but last year at a local show they put down a hula hoop and had a windup mouse inside that was approx. rat size and it would go round and round inside the hula hoop not one of the horses would go through that hoop with that rat running through it.

I've jumped a rolltop at a show that wasn't sanctioned. My horse refused it the first time and jumped it the second time. We practised at home and he's fine now. This show also had a large teeter totter the horses had to walk over for obstacle. I think maybe the hurricanes messed it up as I haven't seen it in awhile.

I don't have any pictures on hand, but yes, we've done both, as well as double oxers. (sp?) OOPS...our shows aren't sanctioned, so my answer is really of no help to you. I would practice them anyways, as they are in the rulebook as acceptable jumps and you just never know when someone is going to impliment them.

AMHA Worlds always has a roll top, but I have never seen a water jump - jumps with blue plastic underneath to look like water, yes, but never actual water...

That sounds wonderful. I wish that the R National show had much better and varied jumps at there show that is for sure

Liz McMillan will be at the East Coast Spring Fling doing portraits ( of course) and she will be taking action shots outside the ring. We have obtained permission from the show committee to bring our jumps from home for everyone to use in the warm up area - two of which are a roll top and a miniature water jump. You can see photos of them at www.ClassyCoursesInc.com .

Thank you, everyone, for your input and ideas !
