Rip's Little Masterpiece?

Silver Mane Frisco Cody?

Rip's Northern Star?

The third one is listed with a rescue in my area, and I'm curious if the information they have listed for him can be verified.

Thanks for any information you have!

Rip's Nothern Star is out of Rip's Black Larigo out of Rip's Little Masterpiece out of Little Masterpiece

Rip's Black Larigo's Dam is Larigo's Red Lass out of Larigo's Lass

on the bottom side it is Beau Bonny out of Silver Mane's Frisco Cody out of Curtiss Frisco - Pete

Dam side is Cres-Or-Lars- Riverboat Sal out of Rip's Little Masterpiece.

Hope that helps!

Lewella might have more information, I think she knows the Cody lines well.

I actually know Rip's Northern Star. Don Rudeen used to own him, sold him to the Salsbury's and then when Mr. Salsbury became ill and his wife couldn't take care of the ponies Don talked one of his Standardbred clients into rescuing when he was ran through a sale in tough shape at Simon's. Vern, the Standardbred guy, sold him to a family a few years ago - no idea how he ended up in a rescue out east!

Don showed Northern Star (that cropped picture on the rescue site was taken at a show and Don is the person in the cart) and he's very well trained to drive. When Vern owned him he used to drive him all around the MN Horse Expo advertising Triple C Carts and Harness (Trace - you probably remember seeing him years ago - he's a little bay pinto).

Northern Star was used as a stud - Don had a couple of foals from him and Salsbury's used him as a stud also. Don't think he was gelded until Vern bought him.

All the show claims for Northern Star and his ancestors on the rescue site are correct.

I own a Silver Mane's Frisco Cody son who is 27 this year. I also own a paternal half sister to Rip's Northern Star, RBD Rip's Centennial Souvenir who is 20 this year. If you go to my website and to the mare pages and find RBD Rip's Centennial Souvenir you can click on her pedigree page and then click on Rip's Black Larigo and a picture of him will come up.

Huh Lewella, didn't realize it, but yeah I kind of remember a Triple C cart running around the fair grounds. I was still working with big horses then.

Great information! Thanks guys! I saw him originally listed on the rescue site as a "broker" owned horse with a bunch of other minis. I think he was picked up at an auction somewhere. He's the one that caught my eye, but I was worried about how we would do the necessary quarantene, since we don't have the facilities for it. Now that he is with the rescue, I'm reconsidering it, but I'm still concerned about his age and any health problems he may have (we are really new to minis/ponies). This is such a tough decision!

If that is a recent picture of him, looks like he is doing fairly well. Just because he is 18 doesn't mean he has issues. As a matter of fact, he just might be the right pony to start with, all of the work has been done.

You saw the picture on the rescue site? I'm going to call and see about going to look at him in person. Seem like a pretty good price to you? I think so with all that training.

I'm with Trace - he's been there, done that and that's the perfect type of pony for a first time pony owner!

The price is very reasonable IMO. You aren't going to find another one out there with his training at a price like that. Wish I would have taken pictures of him years ago going up and down the street at the MN Horse Expo - he was unflappable even in those HUGE crowds of people!

I own a half sister (same sire) who is 20 this year and going to foal in April. You would never guess she is 20 by looking at her!
