Hello! Ok, long story short, my boyfriend whom I have lived with for the past ten years has become extremely neurologic the past year and the family doctor and neurologist have both told him that he is to go on disability. He is not to work or drive as he is that bad. So I went to www.nj.gov and checked out the temporary disability stuff and printed out the application. Is this where I start? Both doctors are saying permanent disability but the web site only says about temporary disability. Do I file the NJ State Temp disability forms and when that runs out I file for the Social Security disability? The doctors are of no help either. They just told me to go to nj.gov for the information and to bring them the forms to fill out. HELP!!! The doctors don't really know what is wrong yet. They are doing an EMG and MRI of the brain and C-spine. ALS/Lou Gerrig's (sp?) disease was mentioned as a possible diagnosis. Blood work for everything under the sun is normal. Actually, his blood work is BETTER than mine!!!!! He has NOTHING out of range. Anyway, thanks for any information or guidance. Any prayers would be greatly appreciated also as he is not taking this all too well and never did I imagine that I would be taking care of a grown man at this point in my life. But I will do anything that is needed.
