Anyone have trouble with cattle panels?

LOL I always find it funny that minis try to jump a fence when my T/B hunter jumpers never even attempted to jump a fence in fact they would stay in a stall with just a lead rope across the door

LOL, Lisa, but there is no "try" here for this horse..........it happens and with no effort, I swear if he was a 16 hand Warmblood he'd be the best of the best jumper. He don't even have to have a running start, he can just causally be standing and them like a deer/mule pops up and over a 5ft fence. And he's not a fence pacer at all, I think he does it for ****'s and giggles

But funny how just a little strand of electric wire about 4.5 ft up stops it so quick........

And I agree, my saddlebred mare I had a few years ago never attempted to get out; but this horse has a ego for sure, thinks he's the cats meow....

I have cattle panels and have never had a problem with them. I would use 4 and make a square and turn out my mare with her filly on the front lawn, the filly never got her head stuck in it. It stood without any poles. I also put the smaller squares at the top.

Before I begin a new paddock made of cattle panels, I thought I'd ask if anyone has had any problems with them.

I was looking at my panels today that were being stored behind the shed, when Michael's Noelle came up for a visit. She's lovely by the way, but of course I'm prejudiced.

I don't think anyone else could do it, but it seems to me, it wouldn't take much for a little baby like that to get her head stuck in one of those squares. Or am I just being an over protective paranoid mother again?

Also, do they sell any hot wire attachments for them? I haven't seen anything around here that looks like they would work as far as size to attach onto the squares.

Looking for input.

Thank you all very much.
I have been using cattle panels, and have not had any trouble with them, but do agree that it doesn't matter how hard you try to do it right, if a horse wants to get into trouble...they will!!

I modified an insulator that is readily available in my area to work on my cattle panels, and it works great! I took one of the round insulators made to fit those small round step in posts, and took the screw on ring off of it, and then cut it so I could slip it over the fence, and then just screwed the ring up tight. I do have a picture of this, but can't get it to post, so if you want to see it, I can e-mail it.

We use cattle panels attached to wooden fence posts with staples. We have never had a problem with them and we put the small squares at the bottom to keep stray dogs out. We have both minis and large horses.
