Above is our buckskin leopard with blue eyes now yearling colt. He is an Orion grandson. He will be trained to drive next year and hopefully shown as a 3 year old. And of course he will be a future herdsire here.
Below is his leopard/ blue eyed mom. She has all kinds of color genes going on in her. She is reg. as chestnut leopard but she usually looks black but for sure she carries the cream gene. The blue eyes Im guessing splash as most of her foals have facial markings usually odd shapes and snips. Its funny as most all her foals have blue eyes that have to be coming from her. And all her foals that I have seen have been black or buckskin as base color so she may be homozygous for black. Whatever she is she will be here for the rest of her life, she is in her 20s now.
"wow what a fine colt. you can send him to our farm. Is the mare breed the same way for this year?"
I wish! Slate, the sire, only got a couple mares bred for 07 and it doesnt look like Firewater, my blue eyed leopard, was one of them. Slate is old and was slowly going downhill all last year. Then we almost lost him this feb. He is doing better now but not breeding any that we have seen. On the bright side we do have a blue eyed full sister that is 2 years old and not going anywhere
well I don't have a buckskin appy but do have a palomino few spot with blue eyes not the best picture but..
it is hard to see much of her color but she has a few random dark palomino spots starting at her belly and moving foward- so far every foal she has had has been appy.
This is a picture of her palomino leopard appy son bingo
