I think as for right now, we are happy with our little herd of miniature horses.

One gelding that shows in halter, obstacle, jumping and driving

One stallion showing in halter, color & obstacle, who should through small and color

Two pintaloosa mares, who have been good broodmares and have given us excellent foals

One few spot leopard mare which hope to breed this year.

One 2 year old filly with our name to show and future breeding

One yearling with our name, for showing and future breeding

Yes, we are happy with what we have

I think good is never good enough, is just human nature..so with that being said,

I am thrilled with the horses in the barn, and in the pasture right now and as soon as i finish med school and get my RN i am planning to make a few changes, i am actually right now cutting very slightly back because of school and only showing three of my own next year actually, but i am THRILLED with those three i have in the barn pretting for nationals & congress, almost relaxing just having three in the barn to be shown

. I am happy with each and every one of the mares and fillys, i am thrilled with my colts and the show horses too.

I am planning to be in the miniature & shetland industry until i no longer enjoy it (which will be a long long long time..i am 20 years old with atleast 50 or 60 more years to go, plenty of time to get my program where i want it

Very Very Happy! I lucked out! Lex and Royal are irreplaceable! I'll soon be looking for another irreplaceable mare

I am happy with ShotGun being just who he is and that is my heart and lil man

.

Sooner or later I would love to have a few more just on account I love them so much. I don't show , breed or do events so no need for them to be perfect.

If I were younger, more able, had the money to do events or shows the yes, I would have a herd and would breed for the dapples. I love dapple greys and solid black horse. I also like the palomino but prefer the darker gold with blond mane and tail.

I am VERY happy with the herd I have. I feel I have two great stallions and a wonderful band of mares. I would like to cut down 2 or 3 mares so that I can keep a couple of home bred fillies. That said, I am ALWAYS looking for a great horse. Its just that now, I am always hoping the great horses are out of my price range so that I won't be tempted to buy them.

Maybe 7 is a good number - we have 7 and we are very happy with them all:

All pintos:

Gelding (our first mini) needs 9 points for his Pinto Championship; shows halter, color, hunter, jumper & trail. Cute and challenging, all in one!

Stallion: waiting (still) for his first foals. He has the bloodlines, size, conformation and disposition we are looking for. Just got his Pinto Championship: shows all the above, plus should add driving this year.

Mares (all have been shown):

2 proven brood mares, 1 in foal, 1 we hope to breed this year.

1 maiden mare in foal.

1 all around show mare that some day we have to stop showing so we can breed her; Hope to get her Pinto Legion of Merit this year and show her in a CDE type event (e.g. HDT or ADT). Just LOVE this mare....

1 mare that is everyone's favorite; we just started showing her in performance last year and she won driving, hunter and trail classes at her first 3 shows.

We put a lot of thought into their selection and plan to keep them around and just sell foals.

YES!!!!!!!! I have two wonderful stallions who i enjoy so much! I would be happy with just them

As a breeder, and also being fairly new to minis ( a little over a year now), I have been trying to improve the quality of my herd. Though fairly new to the minis, I have been in big horses a long time, and feel I know in general whats quality and what isnt. I have sold some of the Minis Ive bought, a couple due to only being R registered, a couple due to conformation that I didnt look at hard enough when I bought them, and a couple due to temperment. Im pretty happy with what I have now, as far as what Im breeding for in conformation, size, temperment, and color. I recently sold a few, and am looking to add a few more when I find what Im looking for.

I think so right now. I'm always looking, but I think I'm getting a good herd.

My A gelding is turning out awesome! Took lots of training, but he's come a long way and we work good together.

My classic shetland was my first shetland. We're going awesome together in and out of the show ring.

I had to pick between 2 mares (the other is for sale). I just decided the horse market sucks. So no breeding. But I think the mare I chose will turn out to be a good show mare. She's taller than the other (which makes a difference when you're 5'11"). Both have halter show experience. But this mare took to my son doing leadline on her and started jumping without batting an eye at the jumps I threw in front of her. So I think she'll be easy to train and willing to please. Not that the other mare doesn't have the same personality, but I think I found the mare that fits best with me. But we'll see how well we do in the show ring together this coming year.

My other A gelding I bought for a cart horse a couple years ago. But then with his stifle problems, we had to do surgery and such. He's actually turning over to my son. I think he'll make just an awesome youth horse. He's calm. Automatically sets himself up when he whoas. Doesn't hardly spook. And he's 32". So a perfect little horse for my son to start showing (my son is 2, but there are a few classes I can stick him in.

).

I am window shopping for a Modern Pleasure gelding. I'm waiting a couple years to make sure the above projects are all going good in the cart and show ring before I start on a new project. But I'm always looking at horses! Just can't buy.

Happy with all of them!! I have three geldings and one mare so obviously not a breeder LOL!!! My husband has his soul mate Rocket, I have mine Lily and our upcoming baby Logan. Then we also have Joe who is an angel and Logan's best bud. Maybe a future team??!! Not looking for anymore just happy to be able to support the ones I have for now!!

I love all my little ponies!!
default_wub.png
I am so excited about my coming foals! One of my favorite mares is due with her first foal in March. I can't wait to see what she produces. Then I have 2 more of my homegrown fillies that are being bred for the first time this year.....it's always nervewracking with the maidens but oh so exciting too! I have a couple of mares that haven't crossed as well as I like with my stallion, but they're such sweethearts it would be hard to sell them....so they may just end up being pasture pets.
default_biggrin.png

I am very happy with the horses I have however I would like a couple more mares (preferably appy)
default_rolleyes.gif
. I have two stallions one 4 and one 2 yr old. The older stallion doesnt have near as much in his pedigree but he is small and correct so that makes me happy and he is also my pride and joy
default_biggrin.png
the younger stallion has excellent bloodlines but is a little taller but still with excellent conformation. I am focusing mainly on staying A sized and good conformation. These two studs are pretty much opposites so if one doesnt cross well with a mare then I just switch stallions. My mares I am happy with although one may not be breeding sound but she is going to go on a diet and then a trip to the vet to find out why she isnt settling but I still love the mare, she is appy with great conformation and she is an absolute sweetheart and she has outstanding bloodlines lol go figure that she will be the one with breeding issues
default_wacko.png
. But I have 4 other broodmares 3 are bred for this year and the other is still on my show string. I have five horses on my show string for this year and only one isnt home raised although my smaller stud may stay home for mane regrowth (got a little crazy with the clippers). I do plan to save back some fillies that I raise and I already am keeping my pintaloosa filly who is on my show string and I bought a dun filly that I will be showing as well. I am only 20 so I figure I will probably make some changes eventually if not right away.

As I am sure with a lot of breeders, we are always striving to add bloodlines that do the various things we want in our babies. As a whole we are very satisfied with the results of the last few years and each year the babies we produce are getting better and proving it in the halter and performance show ring.
default_wub.png

But with that said each year we evaluate and critically look at each and every horse on the farm to see if they can give us what we want and get us where we are trying to go. To stand still means we let the competition catch up or get further ahead of our breeding program. There is always room for improvement for us.
default_new_shocked.gif

Of course the foundation of the farm is always going to be Cherryville's Rio De Oro and his offspring, crossed with the General Patton, Buckeroo, Sir, La Vista Farms bloodlines. But this last year we added three new bloodlines that will either prove themselves over the next few years or will be discarded in our yearly evaluation. The early returns look good, but a long term evaluation is always needed for us anyway.

So to answer your question directly, yes we are satisfied!!! But are still looking to improve each year and will add new horses as we see something that we think will move us in a positive direction.

As a breeder I do have to say for the most part being that this is early in my program I am very happy with the mares and stallion I have.

We have come a long way in a short short time. And the horses we have currently are great. We are always looking to see better blood and stronger colors in the lines but for the most part we are very happy.

Sam (Sorrel Splash Overo Stallion LWO n/n)

Honey (Bay Tovero Homozygous Mare)

April (Sorrel Tobiano in foal to Sam)

Rosie (Sorrel suspected Tovero)

Recent additions that havent even made it to the farm yet.

Missy (Bay Tovero in foal to frame stallion)

Peaches (Palomino Tobiano)

Dee Dee (Sorrel suspected Splash Tovero)

Seven really seems to be the perfect number. None of the mares are genetics color tested yet. But will be.

There's only two colors I would love to add at this time. A cremello or perlino and a splash mare. No tobiano or Frame in her though.

I am very happy with the minis we have. I made changes to get to the herd we now have. There is one certain "thing" I plan to add in time, but I am very happy and very proud of the breeding animals we now own and feel they compliment each other well

That said, surely I will tweak the mix as time goes on. That's what good breeders should do -- strive for improvement and keep up with the times. I also feel I it's best not to breed two horses unless you'd be happy with an exact duplicate of the one you consider the lesser of the match

We are very happy & proud of the herd we have slowly developed, we have went from AMHA & AMHR miniatures in the early days of our farm to slowly breeding and purchasing the ASPC & AMHR side of our program.

We have three stallions :

Gracelands Travlin' Man ~Who is going to be 11 yrs old and we have had him since he was a yearling the OL" Man of the herd
default_rolleyes.gif
AMHR & AMHR Multi National Top Placing in Halter ~ Country Pleasure & Park Harness
default_wub.png

D&S Peeping Tom ~ AMHA * AMHR * ASPC * PtHA Who is awaiting his very first foal crop * Tom has worked hard on his showring credits
default_wub.png

Hemi ~ ASPC - AMHR Hardship 09 Who will begin his breeding career in the next few months & He is a pretty & GOOD Boy Can not WAIT to see what he will sire.....
default_wub.png

Each and everyone was slowly and carefully selected with the thoughts of crossing on the above stallions. Offspring were retained with the thoughts of crossing also.

So when I look at the " Herd " Now adays I just smile and feel ALMOST Complete ( Just awaiting foals from Tom & Hemi ) Of course then crossing them ...

Good Lord Willing, I will be here ( well not actually here ... in Kentucky ) doing the thing I LOVE most in the world ~ enjoying my BABIES ( Horses ) in all aspects .. Loving * Showing * Breeding & Promoting, until the end of me..

So in a word ... YES
default_smile.png
I am EXTREMELY HAPPY with my herd and ONLY await the future

Well I have 17 miniature horses and like them all. The ones I have are:

1 gelding named Cool Running Sanka SPH(My first mini, a rescue, registered only WCMHR, rides and drives and is the reason I have so many minis. They are like potato chips you cannot have just one. He is at my brothers farm for my niece and nephew to ride and my brother and sister-in-law love to drive him)

2 stallions named Cross Country(s) New Kid In Town and Oneka's Devil After Dark(1 grey dapple with blues eyes, great breeding, expecting his first foals in 2009, other is a bay, absolutely gorgeous, amazing pedigree and I can't wait to see what he produces for me in 2010).

10 mares named Cherokee Stables Ohso Dandy, Minni Spark Black Blinker No5, Sharptails Peanut Butter, Leaning Pines Harlequin Romance, Benview's Special Dawn, Benview Christina, Risquefishers Winter Sky, Unquestionably Cute Jypsy Rose SPH, Lucky K Here For The Party, and FDC'S Moongirl Shania(all have their own reasons why I love them, 6 are proven broodmares, other 4 are expecting their first foals in 2009). You can see who each mare is bred to on my website in FOAL section.

4 fillies named SPH Knockouts' Ohso Wonderful, BBS Lovely H, Sarabeaus Moon Fever Mcflurry and Shenanigans At Sunrise SPH(2 are keepers, one being the last foal from my late stallion, Coyote Winds Knockout and is irreplacable, other is a tiny bay filly, such a love bug, other 2, a black appy and a silver dapple are for sale as you can't keep them all, but if they don't sell that is alright too).

Then on top of the 17 miniatures I have 3 arabian mares but they are also at my brothers farm getting quite spoiled and fat.

You can see pictures of all my horses on my website in Miniature and Arabian section. Enjoy!

I am very happy with all my horses. Some will be getting the show year off this year, but will return to the ring next year. But, I am always searching for another, waiting for the "bells" to go off when I see him/her!!!!
