Are you happy with what Minis you have?

I love the personality and temperaments of all my horses right now, they are a pleasure for me to be around and care for them, they do have conformation flaws, but overall they work for what I want to produce right now. I think all breeders should be striving to improve, and so I can't say I will be content with these horses forever, but for right now I love them all!

We love all of our minis, but are always looking to improve our horses or add new bloodlines.

We tend to find breeders that are doing a good job and buy more than one from them.

We follow them from year to year to see what they are doing and which stallions and mares are producing what we would like to add to our program.

We are very happy with what we have now and wouldn't change a thing. We have our first 2 minis, Bozley & Fancy that we do a lot of volunteer work with. They are so easy going and patient. Disabled children can handle them all day. These horses are irreplaceable.

My daughter, Makayla, does most of the showing. She has her B size pinto mare, Belle, that is awesome in performance classes, ie driving, jumping, obstacle & liberty. She is her pride and joy. She will never leave us.

We also have a 4 yo bay gelding and 2 yo pinto gelding that will be her halter horses for this year. We hope to get them up in driving for next year. These boys have great personalities. They aren't ever going to leave either.

Then we have a very nice A size mare, Cami, who has been bred and is due in June. We plan to only breed her this one time and keep her foal. Cami is also a great performance horse and will be going back to showing next year with either Makayla or myself.

We are also leasing a gorgeous mare, Becky, for brood mare purposes only. Becky will be going back to her owner once the foal is weaned. We are definitely going to keep this foal and are very excited about it.

So that makes a total of eight and EIGHT IS ENOUGH!

Am I happy with my horses? Very much so.

But, as any breeder, I am always striving to improve, to produce that "perfect" Mini. A little new bloodline here, a little new bloodling there.

To make room for new, I have to part with some of the old. Not an easy decision. I am a bit of a hoarder, and it is always hard for me to let them go.(sometimes I just get too attached) I have been known to discourage a potential buyer on a mare or stallion because I just hate to let go, but in reality, I know they have to go.

I feel I have put together a really nice mare group and to choose who to let go is just NOT EASY!! I will put some on my web site for sale, then take them off again, then put them on. Usually when they foal, I like the foal so much that I take the mare off the market again. I am not getting any younger and need to get down in the number of horses I have and still have room for a new one once in a while.

For what I do,, Am very happy with Maggie and Theia.

I no longer breed, so I don't worry about the other stuff.

Are you happy with what Minis you have? Or still looking for the right ones?
I have:

"Bunny", an AMHA, coming 5 year old, smokey black Sabino mare.

"Delilah", an AMHR, coming 8 year old, black and white Tobiano Pinto mare.

"Moony", an AMHA eligible, coming 1 year old, bay and white minimal Tobiano Pinto colt.

I am really pleased with my mares, but I am still looking for just the right "show horse". I bought "Bunny" because of her quality and her "look" (
default_drool5.gif
); after I brought her home I fell in love with her personality(
default_wub.png
). I bought "Delilah" because of her personality, her training, and her experience, but she lacks quality. She does have her good points, but she is a conformation train wreck, literally. I haven't started working her yet, but I doubt she'll be able to trot her way out of a paper bag.

I was aware of her (many!) faults when I bought her and I went into her purchase with my eyes WIDE open (
default_new_shocked.gif
). I wanted a well-trained and experience driving horse and she is that. I intend to show her (in driving) and I am sure that there will be a lot of wispering, a lot of pointing and laughing (
default_risa_suelos.gif
), and looks of horror and that's okay because I know that I do not intend to breed her (and make more poor quality horses) and because I know her (many!) faults. She is no different than a gelding and I will "use" her like you "use" a gelding.

I have decided to sell my colt. I don't need a colt or a stallion or a gelding and I prefer mares.

I am looking for just the right "show horse". I would like something of quality (obviously), that is solid in color with a solid-colored breeding/pedigree, and that is a mare. I would like something that I can show, maybe hold my own in both halter and driving, and be able to breed later if I decide that is what I want to do.

Yes I am happy with what I have now, however I will be even happeir IF they do well this show season. Last show season was a disaster. This year I've bought two new boy's and I'm really counting on one to do well. Of course he's a yearling and you NEVER know what they're going to do. So it may not be his time till next year but at least I'll get his feet wet so to speak. The other yearling I really bought for performance so either way I'm not that worried about him. The other two, I'm sticking in training just before show season starts to see if that helps. It HAS to be a better year.... I DO love my horses though and am happy that way, just need to get in synch in showing them. TJ

I am happy with the minis I have, although, I would like to add a couple more mares.

I have one mare that will never be bred, and she stays here to ensure that.

Yes and No.

I know three that are PERFECT and I wouldn't want to part with. I have one I'm pretty proud of.

I know I haven't found "the" one yet, and I am still looking.

However, I'm still pretty proud of mine and I think I'll keep them around for a bit longer

Content and happy, Yes, satisfied no. I am never satisfied (my husband can vouch for that).

It starts off with looking, then ooowing and aahhhing, then maybe I should look a little more. It is so hard to be good when your saving for something special

Yes I am very happy with the horses that I have. That is not to say that they ALL have a forever home here though. There are several that will never leave but as new foal crops come along and as I search the internet there will be mares that will be re-homed as another steps into their shoes. Several of my stallions are young and unproven, time will tell whether they become geldings or find new homes or both. At this point in time though I am very happy with all my guys!

At this time and after many years I have my numbers and types of horses that I want. That is not to say that some won't be bought or sold but I am very happy with what I have. I do think it is a never ending process of improving and culling.

Yes Im VERY pleased with my horses. After years of buying and buying and making payments I have the appaloosa mini herd of my dreams. Finally my homebred foals sired by our Orion son Slate are breeding age. They are being bred to our appy Sids Rebel son and this year our halter stallion, Ericas Big City Bank On Me, will get his first mares. 2008 was our first year of serious showing and we came home from Nationals With 2 Nat . Res. Champions and a #5 All Star in Halter for 2008. I have my dream driving horse Rio, Res. Nat. Ch., and more hopeful prospects at home.

Our Shetland program has started with our herdsire Pans Cody Earl Grey HOF, #1 and #4 All stars 2008 in various driving classes. We have 2 great shetland mares in foal to him for 2009 and a yearling dual reg. Filly with a Nat. top 10 in Halter already.

Am I satisfied? Never! I will always strive to produce better horses.

I have to answer, BOTH! I am happy with the ones I've got: 3 AMHA, 3 AMHR, 1 mini donk. But I'm always looking . . .

Yes I am satisfied with what I have currently have, and more importantly in what they are producing.

Conformation and disposition are big critera's for me, and I have no reason to look for changes now.

I'm keeping my numbers down and staying focused on quality breeding.

I am very happy with my horses. I am however decreasing numbers a bit, just sold my gelding and am still crying about it, but he did go to a wonderful home where he is worked with every day, and very pampered. He has the life.

I have bartered a deal to have my stallion trained to drive, getting a new cart, new harness and some lessons from the trainer, with the barter in trade for a my good pinto mare. I think Bartering and trading right now really works for me.

I have two 2008 babies to sell.

Then I have 2 goals.... to replace the perfect mare that I lost a few years ago... black pinto, blue eyes, exotic head, teeny tippy ears, sweet, homozygous for tobiano and black... that is going to be hard. Or maybe look for all black with wide wide blaze and blue eyes.

Then my numbers will be at 5 mares, one stallion.

I plan to show my stallion, if his training comes along quickly. With numbers that low, I will have time to show again.

We are very happy with the herd that we have. We also try to improve our herd buy purchasing some horse that would benefit our breeding program or bred to a outside stallion. We are very selective who we buy or bred to.
