Babbit really sick

He has a 104.7 fever, and that is with bute... he was doing so very well, the vet is coming this evening, but Babbit needs some good thoughts right now, pooor baby!!! He is still eating well and drinking, thank goodness.

Well the poor hardworking young vet just left a little while ago. He has an infection in his gelding site, which is what I expected. He still had a fever over 104. She cleaned him up, then we cold-hosed him for a while, then she put him on 6 SMZs twice daily. I pray that does the trick, because the next step is having to give him a shot of penicillin twice a day. I have worked so hard on gaining his trust, I feel that would really set us back.

He is tucked into his nice clean stall with a big flake of hay, his grain, and a blanket on to help with the cold night. He does look slightly silly wearing Ally's blanket, as it is about 6 inches too short. Oh well, it will help ward off the chills tonight from his fever.

I feel so bad for him. I feel that his physical state may not have been as strong as it could have been to fight off potential infections.

I pray for his comfort tonight, poor sweet Mr. B. I just love this little dude.

Awww, Amy, I am so sorry to read that Babbitt is having these difficulties. I hope he returns to normal very soon and heals right up.

Please keep us posted and I will keep you both in my thoughts.

morning update: keep those prayers a comin' because it's already working! Babbit's temp this morning is back in a normal range, and he is much more chipper. Very happy with the progress. He is the sweetest boy.
