Thanks so much everyone for your warm condolences

Art is home during the day so we had a call into the vet

to come out today for an IGg on the filly Pooh had

She checked out the mare who lost the filly

and cleaned her out. She was very upset as she loves motherhood

but calmed down enough to go out this afternoon and seems to be doing fine

I came home from work we fed the horses ate dinner and I fell asleep on the couch

and woke up a little while ago.

It was a terrible experience knowing we held the fillies life in our hands and couldn't

get her out in time.

But it is so wonderful Pooh gave us a lovely little filly that morning to

help cushion the blow.

I had been in the middle of posting about the new filly about 7pm last night when Cutie went into labor

so when I finished it turned from a happy post to sad.

Breeding minis is so hard on the heart.

We hope we have 2 more due the vet checked Missy the other overdue mare for us

today when she was here she had tested in foal in the fall but

her findings were inconclusive so we'll wait and see what happens with her

then we have another mare due in mid June

Thanks again for all you thoughts they mean alot to us

Lori

I'm so sorry about your loss of the other filly. Some times we lose them in spite of all we do. {{{hug}}}

Congrats on your beautiful filly and my condolences to you on your lost filly.

This whole foaling process seems so unpredictable. I'm hoping I did not get in over my head when I purchased my mare in foal. Today she is 348 days and I'm worried about EVERYTHING. Missing it altogether is my biggest concern right now.

Can anyone explain "Hiplock?"

sorry for your loss it always seems to hurt even more when the foal is a filly. I had 2 dilute fillies born on valentines day this year one lived and one didnt.

It does help to have another baby to cuddle to ease the pain of loosing the other one.
