Last night at 2:22 Brandy started barking. I love this dog because she has distinct different barks for different things. This was her "You better just turn around and leave" bark. She does sleep in the house. Then I hear some tapping on the front door window. We have motion lights so the light was on outside. There were 2 Hispanic men one about 30-40 and the other was in his 20's. He told me to open the door. I said no. Brandy was still barking and if nothing is wrong she stops barking when I check out her concern. When I wouldn't open the door to let him in then he wanted the phone. It was the older guy that did the talking. When I refused the phone he grabbed the younger guy by the coat and pulled him off the porch. we also have a sliding glass door in the front in addition to the regular front door and they headed for that door but the light went on and they took off. I wasn't sure they were gone so I did call the police. Now remember they came to the door at 2:22am. Before 2:30am the police were here and looking for the guys. Wednesday night she did the same kind of barking out back. I let her out the back door and she wanted into the horse pens. I went out and opened the gate and she hit the back fence. Then she got real quiet and came back to the house. I really love that she is not a barker and doesn't bark for hours on end for no reason. She has different barks just like a baby has different crys. She also has an indoor voice bark that cracks me up.
What concerned me about the two men last night was that 1) there was no car visible. 2) we live in the middle of the block. if they broke down on the main road why would they walk past 12 houses (6 on each side) to get to mine? 3) why would they go to the other door after I wouldn't let them in the front door? 4) how did they disappear so fast when the police showed up when they do not live on this road? 5) they had to be hiding for that couple of hours the police drove up and down the road shining there search lights.
I love that I have this dog. She is better than a gun. I think if they would have broken in she would have done them harm. She isn't even quite a year yet.
