Hi all....these are what I am making as a craft project this year....sorry the pictures aren't more clear....they look much more beautiful when they are light up in the dark, but the pictures don't turn out when it's too dark.

Some of these I am selling & others I am going to give as gifts to friends and relatives. I am sure the pictures aren't really doing them justice, but I wanted to share! I just love doing craft projects and these are just so darn fun....a lot of work but really fun!!

These are glass blocks that we drill a hole in & then put in x-mas lights & then of course I try to find a co-ordinating ribbon & get to work tying some bows.

I cannot begin to tell you how good I am getting at tying bows (if I do say so myself..haha)

..... I plan on doing a couple of blue/white lights with blue ribbon to put under my blue & white x-mas themed tree....I am also thinking of getting a "flocked" tree this year......

Thanks for letting me share just a little bit of my holiday spirit with you all.

WOW.. those are really nice I went to a craft show this past sunday and several people were selling those from anywhere from 15.00 to 30.00 bucks. the more expensive ones had translucent pictures of snowmen, santas, snowflakes, poinsettas, redbirds etc. they stood up on instead of laying down like yours and had the ribbon tied around the sides of it with a bow at the top. they were selling out of those really fast. Nice way to make presents for people plus earn you a little extra cash for the holidays..

Really, REALLY nice!!! What a clever idea!! If I were to make them, the only thing that I wowuld do different is use lights with white wires instead of green.

I absolutely love them. Are you selling any? I have been agonizing over what to get my mom this year. See; Daddy died 12/15 two yrs ago and she just is so sad this time of year. However she has finally agreed to come down to the hollow for Christmas and she's really excited. I've been searching for the perfect smile for a 71 yr old woman who has everything! This just made me grin. Any chance? You can PM me if it's better for you.

I really like those, GREAT craft idea. I bet they look really nice under a tree as a accent piece(s) when lit up or even just sitting on a table with greenery around them. Corinne

Thanks for the nice compliments....... and yep, I wanted to use white stringed lights as well, but good luck finding them in my area of WA....... I could only find a 20 count light with white cord....and 100 count lights....(which are too long & too many).....best to use 50 ct or 35 ct lights.

I also have seen some with the extra ribbon around the edges, but I didn't like the look, they looked "too done up"...if that makes sense...took too much away from the light. I have heard some people are using them as night lights, interesting idea, but I would be leery of leaving any lights plugged in all night, but that is just me, I worry about everything anyway.

My husband wanted to put a picture on the front of one also, he thought it was his "original idea" until we saw some at a craft bazaar this past weekend.....it was pretty cute to see his reaction, I told him it wasn't an original idea, heck mine wasn't either someone I knew saw them back in North Carolina & called us back in WA to try to explain them and it just kinda ran from there.

Anyway, like I said, they have been fun to make, and yes a little challenging finding different colored lights & the right kind of lights.....you wouldn't believe how many lights have plugs at both ends & you are never going to get a big plug through a 1/2 inch hole.....ok, unless you are a magician....haha.

Those are the most beautiful bows I have ever seen.

I love the boxes. They are so pretty and would be lovely in any Christmas display. You have a wonderful talent there and thanks for the pictures. You're helping me get in the spirit!

Walmart has the lights with the white wires. You just have to really read the fine print but they do have them.

Those are sooo neat! I had a big blue glass vase that I put red lights in one year, tied a ribbon around the top and tucked in some kind of boughs, plastic ones with little glitter beads on them I think? You can get them with holly berries too. I think I might look for the vase and do it this year too!

I really like them and if you dont think the pictures do them justice - I can only imagine how beautiful they are in person!! Your gift recipients are sure to love them!!! Lori

They're beautiful!!!

I can just imagine them under a tree with low lights and them glowing in the dark....justbeautiful!!!

Thanks for the info on the white string lights Marty...I will have to look down in Oregon at the Super Wal-mart down there.....our local one just may be too small, so not as good of a selection...or I find the white string & they are for either 100 ct or 20 ct lights...... I need either 35 or 50 ct ones..... I did send my hubby to look for purple & red ones today...yeah, he found more..... Thanks also for the compliments on the bows, they are getting pretty fun to do & don't take too much time...the drilling the holes in the glass blocks takes the longest....but that is hubbys job..haha.

I am glad to hear some of you are now getting in the mood to do some crafts....in another week or 2 I will be totally burned out on these....haha.... but by then I can shift my focus to decorating the house for x-mas.

Happy Turkey Day everyone!!

I would think you might be able to find lights online that you could buy wholesale.

An idea that just came to me.......these would look very pretty at a wedding reception...on the gift table. Most with the white/clear bulbs, but then have a couple with the colors used in the wedding.

Even a centerpiece at a wedding shower or even a baby shower. You could use all blue or all pink lights if they know the sex of the baby. Heck......you could even use them at a birthday party. The possibilities are endless.

Wow, great ideas, I hadn't thought of those idea, I did mention to people who have the red or the clear lights that they could always switch the ribbons out & use them for night-lights or they could put different ribbons on for the different seasons, etc....but I hadn't thought of showers or weddings......cool idea, thanks for sharing that.
