I was just thinking that Feather wasn't tucking her feet up high enough when shes jumps. Could you guyz help me with pictures from the take off to the landing and every where in between!!

Sarah

Is there a correct form for jumping?

Tracy

There i

Sorry

Computer being evil over here

Anyways, there is a correct form of jumping, but not so much style. I am more of less concerned about how they jump.

You can view pictures on my website and I have a few more if you are interested.

Here is a good tuck with the back feet to get up and over with.

Yes, there is a correct form for jumping. If you watch a hunter class or two, you will be able to see a whole range of different styles. Basically, a hunter round should be smooth and graceful. A couple of specific things to watch for are how high the horse tucks its knees up - the higher the better - and also the horse should go over the middle of the jump, not to one side or the other. The horse in my avatar is an excellent Hunter horse and has really good form. (hopefully the picture's not too small to see!)

One of the best hunter type minis I've ever seen.

IMO Jan's picture shows a very good style of what a hunter horse should look like in good form and style.

Here is Krackerjack. He is more of a jumping horse, due to lack of style and form on both of our accounts, we love the speed :bgrin

(He wasn't too sure on that jump lol)

Still lacking in form a little bit, but atleast he's clear.

Defintelly not what a hunter horse, or a jumping horse period should look like. His first time showing in jumping but seriously felt like trying to pull him over the jumps, and i was trying to hold my pants up lol. But we did get 1st in jumping that day.

Here is Roy, I personaly think he is one of the best jumpers I have ever seen, but then again I only have seen a couple shows, but I do like his style, these pictures are a little bad because my camera wouldnt cooperate! And they are also a little big!

We don't have any hunters just jumpers and they all tuck the front legs the same runs in the family.

This is my varnish roan appy mare, "Crackers", she can really fly. This was her first hunter class. :new_shocked:

The little black guy, "Zeemer", would jump the moon if you asked him to...the hardest part of a course with him...is keeping up.

: He will free-jump as I run along-side of him, without even a halter on...he loves his job, be it jumping or driving. Granted, the jump here is tiny...but the form is still there...

Here are a few of ours. We just do the jumping class for fun every now and again, so not sure if their form is "correct" or not. We always do well when we enter and they complete the course, so guess their form can't be too bad.

Here is a picture of my guy, Derby (Triple H Derby Day Miracle -- my former show stallion, now one of my beloved geldings), jumping. I've been told he has "perfect form" and I agree, but then we all know I'm just a tiny bit partial to Derby :bgrin

This is also one of my all time favorite pictures of Derby

These are the only two I have up on the site. I may have more if you send me your email I can just email them to you if I find them.

This is LHR Prince a.k.a. Sid. If more people had geldings like Sid for their kids it wouldn't be too long and geldings would the hottest thing going. Sid holds his own in halter but excels in performance and is such a been there done that as long as the kid shows up to do the class Sid will take care of them.

Sid has great form and is an excellent hunter. I had a blue roan pinto that even though he could jump over the moon was not hunter style at all.

Here are a few pictures of my gelding, Grosshill EKs Incredible Illusion. He shows in both Hunter and Jumper.

This picture was taken at the AMHR Nationals.
