I order a pair for christmas, but the company couldn't get them in, so I am on the search again. Im looking for the "portable" unit that has a 10-12ft. cord. The cheapest I have found is $299 plus shipping, dies anyone know of anywhere cheaper? I just want to make sure before I order them.

Hey, I think that's the best you'll do. Not sure though. I've been looking too and that's the cheapest I've seen with a 10 ft cord. I saw one website that listed them at almost $800. It is crazy how varied the prices are! :new_shocked:

Do you get the AMHR Journal? In the December 2006 issue on page 181 there are Double K 401 models quoted by price. Pretty good prices listed but sure there are other dealers that would match it? Ask....you might be surprised. Also in winter sometimes dealers run specials....this is a good time of year to get deals on clippers and blades.

BTW...shop around...... $800.00 is nuts for a Double K clipper! You can buy these clippers reasonibly even new.

I sell Double K at www.theclipperbarn.com

The prices in the Journal might be wrong as all Double Distributors just got their new 2007 Price List and the prices went up some.

My 10 ft Models are 289.99 plus shipping and the 12 ft are 299.99 plus shipping.

Rob gives excellent service and I highly recommend him.

One thing that I noticed with my Double K's is I thought the longer cable would be wiser but I got a pair second hand with the shorter and it is much easier on my wrist. Never would have thought the 2 feet would matter but when you do a lot of clipping that little extra weight makes a big difference.

Of course I'm getting old and decrepid. LOL

The next time I get another set of Double K's, I will get them from Rob.

: When my original, older set wasn't running right, he diagnosed the problem by email for me and sent out the replacement piece I needed. He seems to have the best prices I've seen too.

Tony at Pro Cut offers the 12 ft cable model for $279.99, 15 ft cable for $299.49 - and that is for the Wall Mount.

I have bought from him before and he is very reliable ! Cheapest place to buy Double K's that I have found.

He is in Kansas, phone number is 785-883-4883.

Yep

The Clipper Barn

I purchased 5 sets of blades from Rob. Great price, plus FANTASTIC customer service!

We are also looking to get a set before show season this year too. Does everyone prefer the belt model or the wall mount? And, what size cord does everyone like? What do you like or dislike about either model? I know the belt model one is cheaper, but I also like the idea of just putting them up on the wall. But, a portable model like the belt one could be nice if you have to clip a horse in the stall for whatever reason instead of the isle, etc. Just looking to see what everyone prefers, and why.

I like the "straight speed" model - I have used both the adjustable and the "straight" speed and I found the adjustable model seemed to heat the blades up faster. I think mine is the 400 with a 12 ft cable. They are the best clippers ever. Mine has a chain that I attach to a ring on the wall.

You might try RC Steele - sometimes they have had them around $200 - or any dog grooming catalog. Seems like when you put the word "equine" on anything, the price goes up!

I haven't bought clippers from Rob -- not YET, anyway, but...

...judging from his role as AMHR steward, Rob goes WAY out of his way to help, so I would strongly recommend doing business with him. Whether or not he has the lowest orices, I'm sure he'll give you a superior all-around deal.

I've also seen that he has refurbished models from time to time...I assume he will still have those when available.

When I do invest in Double-Ks, you can bet I'll go through Rob.

Another vote for Rob at The Clipper Barn. He has sold me my Double K clippers and my daughter her clippers. He will go the extra mile to help you with his products.

I'd vote for Rob too.

I bought a Laube from him last summer (also at a good price). Well i didn't have it too long and a fiesty little filly of mine broke it.

I had to send it back to him to be repaired and what did Rob do??, well he sent me one of his own clippers to let me use while mine was repaired.

Talk about customer service :aktion033:

Oh, yeah....i went and bought a 2nd one from him too, just to have an spare one in case i ever broke one again.

Yup, Rob comes highly reccomended and he has decent prices too.

Hey Rob !

Will you match Tony's prices ? I will be buying new clippers this spring
