Our collie, Kelsey, came in from outside this evening and had "cherry eye", which none of our dogs have ever had before. I put some visine in her eye and then looked online to see if we could do anything else for her until she could see the vet tomorrow. I was surprised to see a home remedy for it, which we tried and it worked!!! She's fine now, not squinting, and is feeling like her happy, usual self! I wanted to share this in case it could help others.

I hope no one minds if I give this a little "bump". So many of us have dogs and if it catches the attention of someone who can benefit from it later, that would be good. Kelsey's eye is doing fine

Yeah! It hadn't ever happened to one of our dogs before, but I had seen it (never treated) with a friend's dog so knew what it was called. I'm happy it spared Kelsey a trip to the vets AND my car missed this chance to be puked in (Kelsey doesn't like car rides). I don't know what caused it but she plays rough outside and also one time, about 5 years ago, was able to kill a bird that was in a bush and ever since then, she has made repeated attempts to maul another bird

So I'm betting she was scratched by a branch (?).
