Well, I cant tell you about gas, but our house is totally electric, and our bill this past month was $117.00, last month it was $55.00, but thats for EVERYTHING. We do have a wood-burning fireplace, but havent really used it much yet. Everyone told us we were crazy when we built this one, to have it completely electric, but its a whole lot cheaper then our other house, and we dont regreat it at all. It did help that my son owned a insulation business and he did all the insulating so its insulated to the hilt! I think our worst bill in the dead of a bad winter was around $200.00. Corinne

GAsoline is 2.09 a gallon here down from almost 3.00 Heating oil is $2.29 a gallon and is expected to rise as the demand does. When my hubby had his surgery in Sept. nurses at the hospital were talking about the coming winter and worrying that there will be many that will not make it through the winter with the oil prices what they are. They said many of the elderly are already choosing between food and medicine and with the added cost of fuel something will have to give. We also are seeing an increase in house fires here because many are going back to wood or are trying to burn wood when they dont know how but even wood is very expensive over $150.00 a cord and many dont know how to burn it.

Just heard a report on the radio with the percentages of increased prices for different kinds of heat is going up this winter. Electric heat is going up the LEAST.

Guess we are lucky..... Our "back-up" heat is electric. Our primary heat source is the wood stove.
