Again, this is one of those cases where dog owners are the guilty parties.
My observations at AMHR Nationals this year:
People that think "dogs on leash" does not apply to them.
People that think "no dogs beyond this point" in the arena seating does not apply to them.
People that think they needn't clean up after their dogs on the few small patches of grass that were available to walk the many dogs that were there.
(another thing that appalled me was people who did not clean up after their horse's waste in the wash rack areas!!!!)
People that leave their dogs unattended in the barn isles in small exercise pens (or tied up) for hours on end, nobody around, so easy for dogs to escape or be stolen.
And this was just at Nationals. Same things go on at the local shows.
And yes, we did have a dog with us at Nationals, she is 12-1/2 years old (in my avatar) and does not do well when we leave her behind at home. We did comply with all rules, left no poop behind, and we knew she would walk very calmly next to us on lead and not bark at anybody. When she couldn't be with us she was LOCKED in our tack stall, in a crate with two fans blowing on her with plenty of water and was checked on often.
Not trying to sound like I think us or our dog is perfect, but again my point here is the owners taking control of their animals and following the rules. Some simply don't care.
