UGH...thats so awful. Our prayers are going out to Sue and her 3 horses! Makes my heart feel so sick to read that and know Sue saw it happen.

I hope they throw the book at the DUI indeed!!!

My family is from Sweetwater/Madisonville...if they need any help...let me know.

God Bless,

Connie

What a HORRENDOUS thing to have happened! My thoughts and prayers are with those dear horses and Sue. I'm so upset for them!

My prayers also go out to those poor horses. My mind is boggled that someone would run down those little horses ON PURPOSE!

I do hope the idiot DUI is insured and he gets raked through the coals!!!!

My heart goes out to Sue and her three horses. She must be feeling so helpless when she's dealing with health issues herself. Prayers for all three horses, I hope the x-rays show minimal damage. I'd keep a close eye on the other two also. Internal injuries can be tricky and not immediately show signs or symptoms.

Definately go after that driver! Besides the vet bills if they really think he did it with malace you should be able to get punitive damages. Good Luck!

I am so very sorry, That is a nightmare to have watched it all!

As bad as I feel for thehorses and as angry as it makes me, I have a great concern for Sue re the blood clots! Bravo for the wheelchair, STAY QUIET but try to move your ankles in a circular motion and pull forward on toes to stretch the calfs! I jsut went thrugh He** last Winter with that which resulted in a Pulminary Embolism and a stroke as many of you know..nothing to fool with!

Please post or PM me re her outcome..is she on blood thinner? She should be! Maxine

Just spoke to Sue a little bit ago. The vet called to say that Tobey's leg is fractured and the fracture goes about 2 1/2 inches below his knee. There is also a bone fragment that has been driven up into this knee. The vet contacted UT and said they wanted Tobey post haste. Sue and Carey are on their way there now. I will post with more news as soon as I hear from them, which may be late tonight.

DJ, Dan and I are going to a little league football game to watch the son of the Sweetwater Chief of Police play. I'm going to talk to him about this matter and see what he suggests about prosecuting this jerk. I also work for two attorneys - one is also the Mayor of Sweetwater and the other is the attorney for the City. I will be asking them to do whatever they can to help Sue, Carey and Tobey.

Needless to say, this incident is putting a great strain on Sue's health and I'm sure she was on her feet too much today. I hope she will be okay.

Ms. Ballard - if you know anyone in law enforcement for Monroe County, Tennessee, please let us know so we can contact them to ensure this man does not walk away from punishment.

All of you, thank you for all your concerns.

Oh what a horible accident due to someone being drunk. I sure hope the Vet gets there soon to attend to the minis. Please keep us posted and prayers are going out to Sue and the minis. And I hope that guy does not get off "scott free."

Oh my Goodness!!!! What a horrible thing to happen and then to see if all...GEESH!!!! What are some people thinking?????? I hate to be so crude but I have no sympathy for someone who drinks and takes a weapon such as a vehicle into their own hands and throws caution to the wind. Grrrrrr!!!!!!!

I just hope all the little ones fare well and recovery and that Sue is ok too.

Oh Tam I'm so sorry for the tragic accident for those little ones..Please know they are in good hands at UT. I am here in Knoxville if i can help anyway at all. Just email me [email protected] Prayers on their way for all involved.

I'm just sitting here crying. those poor poor horses and the people who love them.

This has been a fear of mine as the east side of my pasture runs along a paved road where people speed. All my treasured mares are out there

Those poor little horses and their family will be in my prayers.

This has always been a fear of mine...they race down this road at amazing speeds and there has already been fatal accidents here..2 within the last few years.

My hope that everyone heals and that they throw the "book" at the DUI...

Here's the news.....

Sue called after returning home from UT. Tobey DOES NOT need surgery!!!!! His leg is broken, but it is in a way and at such a location that they put a cast on him. They will keep him there for about 3 days and then he gets to come home. He will have to stay in the house because he cannot get the cast wet or dirty. Would you also believe that he has a muffler burn on his side!

They also told Sue that he does not have arthritis in his knees as she had been told before.

You all are amazing! I'm sure the report would not be this good if you all had not been praying and sending good thoughts. Sue and Carey said to tell all of you thank you and how very much they appreciate your prayers. He's still very concerned about Sue's health because of this incident. We can only pray she stays well.

I'm going to make some calls on Monday to do what I can to see this guy prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. He needs to be run over my a mustang (or a herd of them) himself!

Thanks again!

What a sad situation! I am glad to hear Tobey didn't need surgery and the other two are ok as well. I can imagine the stress to Sue. Keeping horses and humans in my thoughts

Tam, Tobey is in great hands at UT...One of my vets just went back there to do a Surgical residency (he's already done one in equine Internal Medicine and is Board Certified in that and now doing Equine Surgical) and his wife is an equine vet in the emergency room there. They have a lot of experience with minis there and love them. His name is Reudi Stieger (pronounced Rudy) and his wife is Monique. The equine facilities are quite impressive. I feel very fortunate to have it so close to me.

Such good news about Tobey!

Still keeping them all in my thoughts and prayers!
