I lay odds that this is not this guy's first DUI. I hope they go after him but I am not impressed with the system when it comes to DUI's. My ex has five, yes five and three in one year and each time they gave him his driver's license back. So we need to send a lot of prayers that this guy doesn't get away with this horrific accident send prayers to them from NC. Go get 'em TAM put the pressure on the system to make this guy pay for all of Tobey's and the other's pain, suffering, medical whatever it takes. And emotional stress relief for Sue. OK, I'm through

I'm hoping the news about Tobey will help Sue with her own health issues.....

Perhaps she could go after this DUI guy for her personal pain and suffering over this entire episode.....Then there's the pain, suffering, and VET BILLS for those poor little victims!

Tam, I'm hoping you can light a fire under some officials and get this guy COOKED. I also hope he is either insured or has assets, as Sue and her husband deserve some recompense for this horrific behavior! You are being a good friend.

Keep us posted.....

Shane, everyone here on this Forum is connected by their love of these small horses. So we welcome you to join us!

And what great news about Tobey!

Judy Z it was good to hear such a glowing report about the facility where Tobey is being treated.

I will keep Sue and family and all the little horses in my prayers. (and be hoping the driver gets the full effect of the laws!)

That's so great that all the horses will be ok! It's such a terrible thing that happened but atleast it seemseverything will turn out ok!

What's really sad is this guy has an attitude if things don't go his way he makes others pay, the innocent ones. I hope they throw the book at him and throw away the key. I have no pity for this type of person.

Glad to read the minis are all doing ok and looking for a full recovery. Poor Sue, how is she holding up to the stress of watching it and then tending to them from a wheel chair. My heart and prayers go out to her and her family.

I have NO sympathy for drunks, and cannot even say here what I would like to. I am shocked all three horses lived, but that is a sight the poor person who watched it all will NEVER forget. I would have nightmares for life.

I hope the jerk (and I'm being nice here) has to PAY PAY PAY!!

Tam-

Sure hope all the horses are still doing ok - any updates???

Hi, Gang

I was just reading the past post. Having been off the computer for a bit. Just wondering if there are any updates on the three horses? And what happen with the guy who did this.

Vicky

Hi All!

Just to let you all know the latest news with regard to Tobey and the "jerk"

Tobey came home from UT Monday afternoon - sooner than expected. Sue reports he is doing well. He's been pawing with his casted leg and also trying to stand in his water bucket. Sue says he's really been full of himself, which she is happy for. He returns to UT in 4 weeks to be recasted and x-rayed. Sue says the other horses seem to be a little sore, but are doing well otherwise.

Sue was able to track down the guy's insurance company and got a fax and claim number. She is in the process of submitting all the charges thus far for reimbursement. Thank the Lord he had insurance, as the car was repossessed shortly after the accident!

By chance, a reporter for our little daily paper happened into the office where I work. I mentioned the situation to him and he set out to get a copy of the arrest report. He called Sue and Carey that night and a great article appeared in the paper the very next day! So the public knows what happened.

BOTH my bosses spoke to the Assistant DA for our county on Monday morning during court, so he is well aware of the circumstances. Sue has left a message for him to meet with him and discuss her case, but criminal court has been going on all week, so I don't think he's returned her call yet.

Thank you all for your kind words and prayers. They have certainly helped Sue, Carey and their horses.

I am so sorry to hear about the accident. I hope everyone has a speedy recovery. Sue may want to contact Horse Haven in Knoxville http://www.horsehavenoftn.com . It's the local horse rescue and Nina is great about bring accountability to law enforcement concerning horse issues.

I know this is a bit late but I'll keep Sue & Carey and the little ones in my prayers that all heal post haste.

Thanks Tam for all of the updates. Hopefully the fool will feel the rath of the courts.

WELCOME Shane!!

Keep us posted! Not only is she owed vet bills, but fence repair, and yes, suffering by ALL- the horse mostly!! I hope he will do ok with his cast and not try to tear it off, as many do....

I would bet it's not the first DUI either, and yes, LUCKILY he had insurance. He obviously hasnt paid his car payments! Thank god it wasn't someone's CHILDREN that were there playing!! I hope his insurance was still in force.

Yeah for the local paper! Maybe they would want to do an update story too as things move along?

Please let her know, she needs to have a chiropractor take a look at ALL THREE!! We own a full sized mare who had been hit by a car at two years old (she tried to jump it when she escaped and missed) that we bought as about a 6 year old. Her whole front end was out of place and had to have her shoulders, back and neck put back in. She was not limping or showed any real signs of being off, but we have a vet here who is trained for that stuff, and this poor mare was a mess. Because there was nothing broken, they never had anyone look at her, and she was out of place all those years. She must have been sore a lot, especially after having to excercise!!

Just my opinions by the way!

Laurie
