This is between the two counties I live in last night during a roadblock check in town on the highways.

Jerry said the roadblocks were everywhere and he got stopped on the way home and they were checking for seat belts, DUI, insurance etc.

Dan took the back road home and son of a gun, the cops were even on the backroads

for people trying to sneak by the roadblocks. YAY!

The Sheriff isn't possitive of all the numbers in just yet but here is a close idea of what

he has so far:

131 tickets sighted for any number of reasons

43 cars/trucks IMPOUNDED

33 DUI

I want to be the one with the scissors so the drunks on the road can WATCH their license be cut into little pieces.

Anything that makes the streets safer! I work until 1:30 am at the hospital and I can't tell you how many times I've been pulled over for the weirdest reasons(have neverbeen ticketed)! The last one that pulled me over asked "do you have any idea why I pulled you over".... I said "you're looking for drunks and I appreciate it but can I go home now??". He laughed and sent me on my way.

Marty, I am so happy that you have done such hard work to get this stuff established. I have NO DOUBT that it is YOU and people like you that have gotten this established. I will tell you they never have roadblocks in this state and I so wish they did. When I lived in NC, it was a regular occurrence. Make no mistake, you personally are saving lives, every day.

Love you Marty!

NO, actually not. This was a planned strategic manuever by the state/local together, had nothing to do with me or any of my groups. It is state wide all this week.

This state is under the gun BAD by many people for the authorities to start getting things done already. I only have a small voice with MADD which I promise will get much louder in 08.

I do admit to being a large and on going pain at the local sheriff department however. We need more of this to happen locally and that is my goal as well as lowering the speed limits here and in surrounding counties.

You can quote me on this:

Hit 'em in the pocketbook where it hurts; throw the excess trash in the slammer; and bury the drunk driving murderers in the ground where the GUILTY belong, not the innocent.

oH MARTY, THAT IS SUCH REASSURING NEWS!!

That is truly making our world a little better!

YAHOO!!!!! maybe someday we will actually feel brave enough to go out NY eve again... for now, we play it safe and stick close to home!

Glad to hear they are out there and getting after these people. Sad to hear that they got so many, meaning it is sad to know there are that many out there. What would be good is if they could have DUI stops and not get any because there are none to get. We can always hope. I don't know what the DUI laws are in your state but I hope they will be getting more than a slap on wrist.
