I was wondering how many people have had problems with feeding boss? I bought a bag and would like to start feeding it but now I am afraid they might have problems digesting it. Thanks for input on this.

No problems, ever. Makes for shiney coats, and they seem to digest it all just fine.

I've been feeding BOSS for almost 2 years - no problems whatsoever. I also feed a little under 1/4 cup, mixed into their feed or alone - my horses LOVE it, and it adds a wonderful shine to their coats.

As with any new feed, introduce it slowly. Most horses do very well on BOSS, but like anything else, there may be a horse or two that develops or has a sensitivity to it. I have fed it to horses aged 6 months to 20 years with no problems. A little goes a long way though, and staying at that 1/4 cup per day (1/2 cup at most) is a good amount. BOSS contains a good amount of minerals as well as fat and when fed in large amounts could tip the overall balance of the diet if one is not careful.

I also feed BOSS to my 5 little ones ( a handful)and also my big horse..coats are shiney..and they seem to shed off faster in the spring...I love it!

I have noticed even the foals are born with shiny coats now that I feed BOSS, not the somewhat dull coats they usually have.

I used to grind it down fro Rabbit but feed it whole now- even with his poor teeth he can manage it- trey chewing a few seeds yourself and you will see how easy it is. I do grind it for the babies- but by this time of year everyone is getting it whole.

I have been feeding BOSS since 2003 and I have had great success with it. :bgrin They have beautiful coats and they do indeed shed out faster and I never had to clip anyone even the 1 of the 2 babies I had last year who was born in March shed out by himself by late June! :bgrin The other colt went to his new home after weaning so I ended up clipping him before he left but, he was starting to shed as well. Oh and even my 2 yearling fillies shed out and they had very thick coats as well. So, I was really happy about that and I really think feeding BOSS really helped that and have never had any problems with feeding it at all, but just remember like Robin said do it slowly and do not exceed 1/2 cup per day.

where do you buy it?

it sounds good :bgrin

We feed 1/4 cup twice a day to the show horses, from weanlings on up, without any problems.

Naira, you should be able to buy it at a feed store, or somewhere that sells bird seed. You can even get it at Wal-Mart!
