Since there is hardley andy grass out should I leave hay out for my mini all the time???

Or is that not such a good thing for them?

My kids get grass hay all the time 365 days a year. Less in summer but my paddocks are not great which I LOVE so yes they get hay.

So it would be fine to just leave a bail out there for him?? He wont over eat???

It sounds like just 1 mini right?

What I would do is just throw flakes out there every now and then. Like perhaps 4 helps of hay a day spread out. Of course he will stop when hes full (maybe lol) but I would start out slowly like that.

NO! Not a bale! It will get all yukky and wet and pooed on. If it is one mini give one flake in the morning all fluffed up, then another for lunch if possible then another for supper/bedtime...you can do 2 at supper so he has enough for all nite.

Pooed on!!! lol that was funny!!!

yes it is just one mini.

So pretty much let him eat as much hay as he wants......

As long as it is a nice grass hay. Not rich alfalfa. If you are going to show him in halter, you may have to regulate the hay intake as he will get a bit of a belly, otherwise have at it. I was taught to always supplement the hay with grain as needed to maintain weight. If you have a nice quality hay and feed free choice, you may not need to even feed grain.
