Oh wow, I've never heard of them before but they're cool looking. I'd say to keep checking around at the pet stores and maybe even ask them if they could order some for you. Watch out though, if they're hard to find they might be pretty expensive. Good luck finding some!

Oh I like those! I have a 65 gal tank..and it could definitely use some of those PANDA fish :bgrin

: I am going to check around for them too. My sister is taking "salt water" aquarium classes at the moment-- I am going to have her check around too. Hay Lori--did you see these, dont you need some too?? :bgrin Corinne

Just do a search at www.google.com for "panda goldfish" and there are several sites that you can order from. I doubt you'll ever see them in a pet store but I wouldn't buy from one even if they did get them in. Just order directly from the source and enjoy!

This is a fantail. They come in all colors, but these are called pandas due to the colorations.

They can't move their tails on their own. They have to wiggle their whole body to move and from running up to the surface to get air, it stresses them out. If you do a search for suppiers you'll find one that will ship to you.

thanks everyone. i have asked pet stores if they could get them in, some said no, some said they are seasonal, and one trys every week. i will look on-line for suppliers i did not know they could ship gold fish. where do i get them shipped to my house? will they survive?

Fish are shipped all of the time from all over the world. How else do you suppose they get to the pet stores? If you order from someone Online they will have your fish shipped to you at your chosen location as soon as possible. Although not every fish will survive transportation, the majority do and most places will replace the ones that don't.

LOL! I'm glad you got a laugh out of my last post. I was hoping you would and wouldn't think I was just trying to be a smart ***.

Seriously though, if you really want those fish I think they are out there available right now if you keep looking:

Me, I'm a Betta fanatic. Many people aren't aware of just how GORGEOUS those fish can be in comparison to the often poorly treated and patheticly bred pet store varieties: http://www.bettatalk.com/

I actually take offense at the lumping of all pet stores together.........I worked for a 4th generation pet store owner who also was a 4th generation dog show person ..we did not sell puppies or kittens, we did not sell wild caught anything fish or birds etc.....and we did have breeders we referred people to regularly.....

Try finding a local (might even be statewide) fish fancies group.....if you have a public aquarium call them and tell them you are looking for specialty goldfish and they just might know some fanciers who breed and show these types............good luck

I'm on the improv team at school, i find most things funny lol. that was one of the sites i checked, it says they are curlently out of stock. but like i said i will check back offten. I'm only allowed to have fish for pets now, we have a dog, but we don't get along unless i have food  . i love betta fish too! they are so pretty, I first saw how nice they really could be when i started looking for what kind of fish i wanted about a year ago, when i relised i could not get a boxer puppy til i moved out :p

Sorry, runamuk, but I've also worked for a well-established family owned pet store. The owners were gundog exhibitors and were also very involved with the local Betta fanciers group. The stock they sold in their store, however, was just what every other pet store sells. The "good stuff" was kept in the back room where I cared for it, but places like that are few and far between. If you want a good quality fish, a pet store is just not the place to purchase from almost all of the time and I don't care if that's lumping privately owned stores with Petsmart and Petco.

About the Bettas, storm: What made you decide on goldfish? I tried them but found they really need a tank setup. :new_shocked: I just love the Bettas as they CAN live in a bowl or vase and do just great.

I have always liked gold fish, i have had them since i was little. I once had a pet store bought Betta named "jaws" but i went on vaction and my brother fed it to much  . when i saw the photos of the panda goldfish i knew i wanted one, and i've been looking ever since. Not saying that other fish are out of the question, right now i have one little angel fish who i call "Dumpster" he had a friend, but he ate him, i know angels are agressive so it was not that much of a shock. I was also thinking of getting a few Bettas as well as the goldfish, and dumpster. I have a bowl that is not being used right now, and my friend is giving me her 5 gallon tank, and I have my ten gallon one going right now as well. I do however have limeted space in my room, so i can not have that many bettas seeing as they have to have there own bowl.

I have had them before along with Orandas and other fancy goldfish. They are beautiful. I had them in a 50 gallon aquarium and then graduated them outside to the ponds where I had fancy goldfish in one and have my Koi in the other. I got them from Pet Smart here in one town over where I live. That was my foundation, then they kept breeding in my pond, and walla!!! Fry!!!! :aktion033:

: Do you have a Pet Smart closeby? Might wanna check with them. The bigger they are the more expensive...the small ones are'nt that expensive.

[SIZE=10pt]What a cute fish, I have never seen this color variation before. ( Yes Corinne - I could stand to have a few of these too! )

: Good luck finding them!

stormo41- where are you located? The pet center-"Henlely pet Center is St. Catharines has had some- but I haven't been there in a couple of months - there was also a place in Hamilton a big place- can't remember the name but they usually advertise in the Sunday paper-

Hamilton would be to far away from me, but i could go look in St. Catharines. my mom has the affternoon off soon, and i'm off on exams maybe we can go see.

Call first they had some about October - November I was over there looking at the lion heads :bgrin - They are called Petland now-905-641-1715. But the place in Hamilton usually has an ad in the Sunday Sun( I couldn't find it yesturday)- I found it in the phone book Big Al's 1-800-787-5260 140 Centenial Parkway Hamilton. Super Pets in St.Catharines by the wallymart 905-641-9899- there is a lady over there who is gaga over the gold fish, they might be able to order in a couple for you.

Good Luck post picks if any find a home with you!

Tiffany

well i just called Pet Land, and the man who answered the phone said he never heard of them, maybe i will go anyway because I've been there before and i know they carry all kinds. I know mom and dad wont drive me out to Hamilton to get gold fish, they don't see the point in me trying so hard to get these ones  however my dad wants me to get salt water fish...in my 10 gallon tank

: . I have delt with the super pet by wall mart before, and i did not get good service when i bought dumpster (my angel fish) from there. I have also emailed them a few times about these fish and still no email back. but if we are going out that way anyway i will stop in and ask them again. But things are looking up on my search, I will let you know if i got any tonight. (with pics of course)
