Took my new mini (bought last October) to her first show yesterday - a small open show. Only class she could go in was Adult Showmanship, which we plan to also do at the mini shows. Went in hoping she would get through the pattern well (since she's never done this, and I haven't shown showmanship in 25 years!). Well, out of 8 horses (7 "biggies" and us) we got 2nd! She was fantastic - I missed a move, didn't anticipate how fast a judge would walk around a mini - if you have to think about when to move, you'll be too late I found out : )

Anyway, so here's Tango and I following the class (I had ordered a quarter horse style halter for showmanship, but it didn't arrive in time, so we showed in her Arab style halter. Of course, the showmanship halter arrived that same afternoon, after we were done showing : )

Thanks everyone - I'm having so much fun with these minis - looking forward to an AMHA/AMHR show this weekend, not planning on "conquering the world" but it will be a good challenge and we will learn a lot I am sure!
