Hey I have one of those fortune telling fish here right now. Very cool!

Bazooka, fireballs, and there was a taffy called Archie taffy that was sooooo gooodddddd!!!!!!! OMG!! I miss that stuff. Most of these candies mentioned I can still get though. Not all but most. I love old time candy. You know, back in teh days of black and white? LOL

MoJos, wax-lips, spearment leaves, black-cat bubblegum, Oh my yes... :aktion033:

And a bottle of pop for 6 cents, a bag of chips for a nickle...Saturday Matinee at the movie theatre, including treats, for a quarter!! :new_shocked:

O-M-Gosh!! This post, coming so quickly after the "favorite TV Shows", has me wandering down Memory Lane.

I don't remember it being a penny, I think it was like 3 cents or 5 cents when I was a kid, but we still got a decent bag full for less than $1.00.

I love root beer barrels, the mini jawbreakers, the wax liquid filled bottles, candy necklaces (saw a bikini top made out of these the other day in a catalog

: ), candy cigarettes and bazooka gum. I know there were others, but these are all that I remember.

I loved those little bottles of colored sugar water in wax, along with big red wax lips!

Remember when you went to the movies on matinee day they had those big jars of dill pickles, the really big ones! You could buy one in a napkin for a nickel. Ummmm good!

23 years ago if I walked the 3 1/2 miles to the little store I could buy jolly ranchers (sour apple and watermelon were the best) for a penny for the little ones and 11 cents for a bar......I was never much of a candy person...but I walked to that store every day for almost 3 years at least once a day (usually just to visit with the owner he was like an uncle

: ).....sometimes I rode my horse there as well :bgrin

I just remembered some more, been thinking about this, sense my last post

Chocolate Babies,

Pixy Sticks, was like lick o maid but in a straw

Lick o maid, Came in all colors packages sometimes you could buy 5 packs in a pack.

Rock Candy on a string,

Mallo Cups, remember you could save the cardboard money inside and save enough to get somethng free???

Wafer ice cream cones, they had marshmello for the ice cream. Then also the marshmello chicks.

Chuckles.

Then also I was thinking about them wax bottles with the flavor water inside, do you remember all the wax that was always melted on the sidewalks around the store and oh ya in the school yard too? Gosh what a mess.

Then how meny times did you get gum stuck to the bottom of your nice shoes. That always grossed me out to have to pick gum off my shoe. Yuck.

Wow what a blast into the past that was...

I loved the ice cubes but I think they were more than a penny.

Me and my cousion would walk to the store and all the way there we would pick up soda bottles for the money to buy candy. Then when I got older it was to buy smokes or gas

I liked candy cigarettes, jawbreakers, the dots on paper, rock cand on string, string licorice, candy necklaces.....the wax lips and teeth and malted milkballs!!!

I remember dill pickles!! When I visited my Dad in the city, my girl friend and I would go to the local confectionary and buy one packed in a plastic brine filled bag. Had a terrible time "cutting" it in two pieces with nothing to cut it with (ever try to break a pickle?) Then we would drink the "juice".

And...I had forgotten all about the little ice cream cones filled with marshmallow. Yummy

Oh yes, those marshmallow ice cream cones were somethign I just adored!! Could not get enough of those. Black jack gum, Beemans Gum(which I have in my cupboard right now) Mini Chicklets.

Some of these things are still available though a place acalled the Vermont Country Store. They have a website. And also, for those of you that live in the southern states, (not sure where all they are located) the Cracker Barrel REstaurant has a lot of this too.

OMG DOES THIS EVER BRING BACK MEMORIES! I used to pick up soda bottles too along the road ..i used to think i hit the JACKPOT when we'd find liquor bottles which were $0.15 a peice too!!! LOL i can't remember for sure..but it seems like this was all penny candy..if not penny..it was VERY cheap. We lived near a store and used to walk down all the time. I LOVED garbage pail kids, pixie sticks, and candy cigaretts! lol.. but the store had tons of stuff.. also like gummy bears, fish, worms ect. Wax lips were great..omg omg i'm having so much fun remembering all thing things! LOL

Black Cows and Big Buddy bubble gum it was 12" long and package like a ruler, but that was a nickle. $1.00 went a long way

I used to LOVE Root beer barrels, those marshmallow ice cream cones, and the dots on the long papers. We used to go to a store called Joe's. He sold nothing but milk, bread and tons of penny candy. He was a very patient nice man. Remember how much you could get in a little brown bag with a nickel or a dime?
