I feel so lucky to be able to have bought 172 bales of low-sugar orchard grass hay (tested at around 12%, would prefer lower) for $16/bale tested and delivered. That is super cheap here! At the feed store it's going for around $24-$25 per bale (untested); alfalfa is $15. These are 3-strand bales that weigh 100-110 lbs.
Just wanted to make y'all feel better about your prices!
Note: If any of you grow grass hay that tests low in sugars (NSC <10%), please PM me. I know LOTS of people who would be very interested in getting that hay. Those of us with Insulin Resistant and Cushing's horses need it badly.
