Greencastle Sale?

This was the biggest sale at Greencastle that I've ever been to!!! 50 donkeys and over 200 minis for sale!!! It was also the hardest sale I've been to. We're still trying to pay on medical bills from my husband's heart attack in January, so NO MONEY TO SPEND!!! That was rough!!! Some of the highlights:

4 Egyptian King sons were in the sale. All foaled in the 90's, tiny and I think all no saled when the bids were only $100-200. One of them was really skinny.

I recognized some forum names.......Hairicane, Tiny Trotters, offspring of Harts Tip Top Flash, a pintaloosa mare out of Brewers Orion Commander, offspring of Scott Creek Monarch Magnificant and others.

Prices were pretty low overall as there were just too many horses in the sale!! Really bad time for me to have to sit on my hands!!!!

The farm dispersal was Pheasant Lane. I think they said they were from NY.

Once again....color seemed to rule. Horses with color who were not conformationally correct (mostly leg problems), went for high prices whether appy or pinto.

It was a long, long sale!!! I got there at about 7:15 this morning and didn't leave until almost 6:00. The next sale is on 10/27. Maybe I'll have some money to spend then!! Hope so anyway!!

I went!!I went!!! I bought 2 from that dispersal sale nummber 168 and 95. 168 has a colt with blue eyes and bred back to that costly stallion. Number 95 is due in a month and very nice. Yes I bought an APP due any day. THe prices were so cheap. I am glad my DH sold his race car!!!

What was up with Eygitian King? It was crazy. They didnt even mention Egyltian King. That one horse was rather thin. I have been to that mans farm. He is very nice but I think it is past the prime. He was selling Danny Boy and it ended up "no Sale" He paid 40,000 for that horse. Does anyone know or understand how that could happen? It didnt even bring 200.00. It was like he was being "boycotted".

I went I bought a 3yr. old mare #60. She is in foal to one if the loud Appaloosa stallions that sold. I didnt really Dont care for him but i love the mares confermation, To breed to my own pintoloosa stallion next year. And to a friends stallion this year. Lorie

Zoey, Which, App. did you buy? What # was Danny Boy? I think prices were really down. But I think also the fact that Joe dont take credit cards hurts also. I had a lady ask me were a ATM was, she was from out of state and didnt bring a check book.

I didnt go, however one of my friends Karen Wales did go and took 9 horses to put through. Not sure if she came back with something or not.

I am planning to go to the next one 10/27 though

I wanted to go, but couldn't get away, what is the price range horses were going for? Or at least does anyone know the top price paid? I'll have to try and go in October, but I wanted to look for an appy mare, ahh well, I really don't need another one anyway.

Hello. I bought the leporad App mare number 123. She is double registered. She was bred to an leporade App and due anyday. We are guessing by Wednesday. Her last 4 foals were Apps. THe last 2 were colts so I hoping for a filly

Some horses were as low 150.00 and the hightest one that we saw was 3900. and it was a stallion. That was the stallion bred with my mare # 68 that has a colt by her side.

Number 60 is beautiful great buy!

I think the prices were very cheap and overall quality was really good.

Sorry- Danny Boy was number 122.

I think the average price was 900-1200 for a bred mare.

Zoey, Thanks! For the info. I think prices were cheep. I cant recall the mare you bought. I wanted the gray Appaloosa that had a foal by her side, I bid her up to 1750 and the women no saled her and wanted 3500. Are you in Pa. Lorie

I remeber that one. That was steep, 3500. It is an auction so you have to understand that you wont get retail prices. I remember yours because it was marked in my book for bidding lol.

I live in NJ. It is 3.5 hr drive for us. We will go to the next auctiona nd bring the colt up if it doesnt sell locally by then,

I went also and bought a medicine hat yearling filly from the dispersal and i also bought a solid chestnut mare....Prices were low , and there were some good quality horses there...We Will be going back in oct..

I don't have my mare home yet. I was not prepared at all to buy a horse. Being the fact the prices were so low, I couldn't resist such a good deal. Does anyone know what hip # 159 brought? It was a sub.

Hi Zoey,

LOL I know but thats ok. I absolutely had no plains what so ever to buy a horse. She was hip # 56 I think. I do know it was a sub so it wasn't the same horse that was listed in the catalog. She is a solid black mare. I can't wait to get her home. I'm gonna breed her to my sweetwaters stallion that is homozygous for the pinto gene. :aktion033: I hope to pick her up on Thursday of this week. If that doesn't work she will have to wait til next week. :no:

I went too and wasn't planning on buying anything either like the rest of you but with the prices as low as they were I couldn't resist. I bought # 53, Pick Pockets Centurian's Deelite. She's a bay tobiano, I think. Nine years old and around 34". She measured in at 35.5 but when I got her home I trimmed her feet and took about 1/2" off so that shortened her a little. She has a really nice personality and I'm planning on taking her to a show this coming weekend just to see how she does. I'll try and put pics of once I have some good ones. I would have liked to have talked to her owner but they were never around when I was there. I planning on making her my all around horse. Driving, halter, jumping, and obstacle (trail).

I was really surprised at the prices of the Egyptian King sons. I thought they would have brought alot more but then again it was a sale and you can only get what people are willing to pay.
