Hair chewing foal!!!

Ok, one of the foals is chewing everyone else's manes and forelocks. I know who the culprit is, because they are now the only one without their hair spit on and messed up and chewed into wads!!!!

I have NEVER had one do this, and always felt sorry for those who had one of these.... HOW do you get them to STOP?! Anything I can put on their manes and tails to get her to STOP?? AUGH!

Maybe smear a little Trainer's Formula in their hair?

Not only is she making a mess of the others, but most importantly, she is probably ingesting a lot of it, and will be at high-risk of impactions.

I knew an older mare that would do that. I used Chinese food hot chili oil on the mane and tail. But don't rub your eyes. It worked pretty good.

You can also try "bitter apple" spray for pets, just be sure not to get it in their eyes when you put it on. I used that on fly masks when I had a filly last year that learned to pull the velcro and take everyone's off.

What is Trainers Formula? The bitter apple sounds like a good idea too and yes, I am worried that she is going to ingest hair! On top of ruining the other's 'do's'

eQyss products makes "McNasty" but honestly makes my eyes water from 50 feet away! But it will definitely deter!

I would try some sort of bad-tasting product. I agree it can cause impactions,that's the biggest worry!

Can you separate the offending horse?

Full strength Listerne in a spray bottle. I keep that on my wash rack and mist the horses after a bath. It helps with flies a little bit too, and I feel helps ward off rain rot type crap from getting on their legs.

Oh Marty, another great idea!! And I have some of that handy!! I will try that and see if it doesnt deter the little monster, LOL Unfortunately I dont have any place to seperate her and her momma right now. I will go dump some Listerine in an extra spray bottle right now! NObody likes the taste of that stuff!!
